About this deal

Dora is the founder of our NGO, Footprints of Hope Mapapa. At just 27, Dora took her meager savings, moved to a remote village, built a mud house, and began teaching rural children underneath a tree. Three years later, she has saved over 200 children from abuse, forced marriage, rape, and neglect. Dora’s work as an advocate has garnered global attention, from the United Nations, UNICEF, and four million others on social media. Joseph Schmitt, an American researcher is the author of the book and shadowed Dora for a year to help tell her story. Our goal is to sell 5,000 copies, of which 100% of the proceeds go directly to Footprints of Hope. This book not only shares an incredible true story, but inspires us to drive grassroots change in our own communities. We are so proud of our amazing team that has helped spread awareness and maximize our impact with this book. The book tour is officially over! We'd like to extend our most heartfelt thanks to everyone who came out to see us! We loved meeting each and every one of you and appreciate all of the support. Today I connected with the SHOFCO team in Kibera, a settlement within Nairobi. SHOFCO is working to bring clean drinking water to the +1 million people living in informal settlements. They accomplish this by utilizing overhead water pipes and innovative water stations with cashless access. Nyambe, 30, started a crowdfunding appeal in 2020 with the aim of building a school for the children of Mapapa - located 280 km (175 miles) north of Lusaka.

The former English teacher has faced online abuse, with some accusing her of "charity porn" and exploiting the students for personal gain. When Zambian teacher Dora Moono Nyambe started posting videos on TikTok three years ago, she had to ask her daughter's 13-year-old friend how to use the popular social media platform. I had no idea when I first started using TikTok - so I just started showing how life in the village was," Nyambe told Context via video call from the Zambian capital Lusaka. Nyambe said she has had to negotiate with villagers to allow their children to attend school, and has rescued many girls from child marriages - often having to reimburse the families for the cost spent on their weddings. Nyambe's videos now attract tens of thousands of views - even drawing the attention of U.S. popstar Meghan Trainor, who shared one of Nyambe's videos of the school dormitories set to Trainor's hit song "Made you look". There is no way I would have been able to achieve what I have if it wasn't for all the TikTokers who have supported me," said Nyambe.
