The cheaper offerings are cheaper for a reason, Makita are still worth the money IMO, their spares can be cheaper than other makes too. I've only seen the 2 cheapest models made in white, I have them both in green.

My experiences with Makita drill are that any with the plastic gearbox housing are a waste of time as soon as the drill / gearbox gets warm the bearing race held in the plastic gearbox develops play in the housing.This means that they are in essence the same model or variant of the same model. I don't know about Canada, but in the US the full line of Makita tools also includes teal tools that are identical to the white ones but just come with larger batteries.
