About this deal

Viral Transformation: Beings infected with Ra'haam pollen gain flowers and plant life growing out of them. The other three characters also have some major and moving character arcs, especially Aurora and Kal, who are trapped in a future where the Ra’haam won, and everything has been infected by them. This is a particularly dark storyline, and these two protagonists go through a lot, especially as they keep witnessing all manner of death and destruction around them. Their arc is further complicated by Caersan, Kal’s father, who has similar powers to Auri and used them to destroy Kal’s home planet. This results in some major emotional moments, as Auri and Kal are forced to work with an unrepentant Caersan, while also trying to work out their own complex emotions. Finally, I must highlight the great development at occurred with Tyler, the team’s leader, who, after spending two novels turning Squad 312 into the ultimate team and family, ends up by himself, forced to face literal ghosts from his past with none of his established support. Tyler really suffers in this book, and you must feel sorry for everything he goes through, even if he does start a passionate, if exceedingly violent relationship with a warrior alien princess. All of these character arcs are really impressive, and you will be moved by everything these fantastic heroes go through, especially as not all of them will come out of it in one piece. Never Got to Say Goodbye: Auri regrets the fact that her last conversation with her father was her telling him how upset she was with him. Year Inside, Hour Outside: Within the Echo, a created memory of the Eshvaren's homeworld, Auri trains her Trigger powers for around six months, but only about twelve hours pass outside. The Big Guy: Tanks serve this role in Aurora Legion squads. Kal is Squad 312's, and as a member of the Syldrathi Warbreed Cabal, he's good at what he does.

Switching P.O.V.: Every chapter is narrated by one of the 7 main characters, with their name at the beginning. Book 1: Princeps, the leader of the GIA agents and components of the Ra'haam gestalt chasing Auri, is what's left of her father. FoldStorms are one hazard of travelling in the Fold, and one such destroys the Hadfield as Tyler is rescuing Auri. Touched by Vorlons: During her time in the Fold, Auri was modified by a device left behind by the Eshvaren to become the Trigger for a Weapon they created to use against the Ra'haam. Wrong-Name Outburst: One of Scarlett's many ex-boyfriends apparently called her by his mother's name once.

Tropes present in this series:

Fake Defector: During the heist on the World Ship, Cat plays this role as part of the plan, pretending to take up the offer from a squad of GIA agents who try to turn her. Hate Sink: Caersan truly is a nauseating individual. A bully, an abusive father, an abusive husband, coward and manchild. In an alternate future, Kal meets a Syldrathi girl called Lae. They get into an argument about family and Kal mentions that she has no idea what it means be part of a family like his. Lae's his niece. Inappropriately Close Comrades: One of Tyler's reasons for turning Cat down was because that, as a future Squad Leader, if they're in the same squad he would be her superior officer.

Psychic Link: Kal has a mild one with his sister Saedii, where if they are near each other, Saedii can sense where Kal is. Kal can also sense Saedii's location, though not as strongly or accurately. This article contains plot details and potential spoilers for The Aurora Cycle. If you have not begun reading or are not too far into the story, please refrain from reading or at least proceed with caution. A legendary party on planet Leibowitz VII is mentioned, where they were partying believing that the apocalypse was nigh. Delivery Guy Infiltration: Part of the Sempiternity heist involves Kal and Zila disguising themselves as a couple of fast-food delivery guys. One sapient species that is briefly mentioned are called Rikerites, and there is also a planet called Picard VI.Now, obviously, they haven't made a series named that, but they made the Aurora Cycle. I'd like some people's thoughts on this because my brain started spiralling when I thought too hard about it. Some things to consider (if everything else generally stayed the same):
