Just then a funny thing happened. Little Billy began to hear somebody whispering in his ear. He knew exactly who it was. It was the Devil. The Devil always started whispering to him when hewas especially bored. The Minpins wear clothes that are ‘the sort of thing people wore two or three hundred years ago’. Find out about clothing and fashion from different periods in history.The Gruncher uses his sense of smell to find humans. What other animals use smell? How are their noses adapted for this? These were the words the Devil whisperedsoftly into Little Billy’s ear on that sunny summer afternoon.

Billy's mum says he must never go out through the garden gate and explore the dark forest beyond. So, one day, he does exactly that! There Billy meets the amazing Minpins, tiny people who live inside the hollow trees. I found a Dahl I hadn’t yet read! The Minpins is a classic childhood tale - Mom says not to go out into the Forest of Sin (haha what a great name), so obviously Little Billy goes.This book takes a unique approach to the small-world idea. Little Billy (points off for that name) goes off on an adventure to the woods, despite his mother's warning. Imagine that you are an estate agent trying to sell a Minpin’s house to a new Minpin family. Make a poster using publishing software to advertise it.

Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.” My beloved dog is a Min-Pin and I found this title searching for books about him! But it worked out well because this is a good story for kids and I've got a kid now. Roald Dahl wrote some seriously good stuff that did not underestimate children's abilities. Every now and again his mother would callout to him, saying, “Little Billy, what are you up to in there?”
