About this deal

It’s not the easiest task, especially when two of my kids are sitting for major exams(when will it ever end!)meaning I’ll be dead on my feet most days but try I will. Pour warm water into a large bowl. Drop the rice into the warm water and, after 15 seconds, drain with a sieve. Add the rice immediately to the wok and stir well. The rice will rehydrate completely in 1–2 minutes. Season with salt and lemon juice to taste and garnish with the coriander, peanuts and coconut flakes. To make the tomato relish, blend the ingredients with a little water for about 30 seconds in a food processor or blender to form a coarse relish. Even though Katta Sambol pairs well with almost any kind of Srilankan Breakfast Meal like Hoppers,Mani Pittu,Pol Rotti,Boiled Yam and much more , from what I remember Katta Sambol is mostly served with Kiribath or Milk Rice during a humble beginning to something new like New Years Day or when moving into a new home, new business and anything new…. Hi fathima, how are you? hope you are in good health by the grace of almighty.sorry for the late reply,I just down to do a blog post when I saw your lovely message. Hope you enjoy making the food I've done on the blog. I didn't know that but it makes sense that there is a similarity in name and ingredient when you think how close the two islands are located. I'm curious to know what other ingredients you add so please let me know. I have a small maldivian readers that is growing gradually. so glad you are one of them. take care.

Halidi, Risna. "Resep Sambal Buah Rampai, Sambal Unik dengan Citarasa Pedas Asam Manis". suara.com (in Indonesian) . Retrieved 26 April 2023. Using a large mortar and pestle (or working in batches in a smaller mortar and pestle), grind the dried red chilies with the salt and sugar into a fine paste until there are no chili seeds visible in the paste. Shape your Kiribath while it’s still hot. It gets harden when it cools off. So don’t leave it in the cooking vessel. Take it out and shape it into square or round or any other shape of your choice before it cools down. There are various condiments that are fairly similar to pol sambol. Lunu miris, for example, is a version with no coconut. Katta sambol is typically made with the same ingredients without the red onion or coconut.Pol sambol is traditionally prepared with Maldive fish ( umbalakaḍa), a smoked and cured tuna, that is sold in chips or flakes. The same ingredient that is used in other Sri Lankan dishes, including kiri hodi or seeni sambol for example. Native to Lombok Island (Chili Island), made with Lombok and lengkare peppers (a kind of shrimp paste), tomatoes, salt, and lime or calamondin juice.

Notes-You can use a Mortar and pestle to crush all the ingredients, if you use your blender, make sure to wash it well with warm water.
