They moved on to the next cabinet, where the Princess glanced briefly at a photograph before turning to William and saying, ‘Tell me about him.’ Then I’ll have another chance to meet your daughter,’ said the Princess, ‘because if I remember correctly, I’m opening the Fitzmolean’s Frans Hals exhibition next year. My years in reading through Jeffrey Archer books has been a delight! I would impatiently wait for the next book to show up on the market! He is an excellent, gifted writer. His depth of insight, his humour, the way his mind works in telling a complete story that leaves one wanting and waiting for the next book. Thank you, Mr. Archer for giving me so many good hours of reading. R.Charles Reply Next in Line doesn't disappoint if you're a Jeffrey Archer fan, or even if you are reading him for the first time. It has all the elements of clever plotting, multiple threads which twine into each other to provide the reader with a well crafted and layered read.

In this book his team have to protect Princess Diana and it has a real royal theme to it, brilliant for the Platinum Jubilee year. London, 1988. Royal fever sweeps the nation as Britain falls in love with the ‘people’s princess’, Princess Diana. Which means for Scotland Yard, the focus is on the elite Royalty Protection Command, and its commanding officer. Entrusted with protecting the most famous family on earth, they quite simply have to be the best. A weak link could spell disaster. The Princess waved to the crowd from her car, and they all responded except for Ross, who was still smiling at her ladyin-waiting.

You’re one step ahead of me, ma’am,’ said William, moving on to the next cabinet. ‘Ruth Ellis, a nightclub hostess, was hanged on the thirteenth of July, 1955, after she shot her lover with a Smith and Wesson .38 revolver, which you can see here.’ Good idea of yours,’ said Sir Peter, ‘to have two young officers showing our guests around the museum, rather than us old fogeys. Especially as one of them had so obviously done his homework.’ My thanks to HarperCollins and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review an early copy of Next in Line. The door was held open by a young cadet, who the Princess stopped to have a word with, before William guided her towards a waiting lift. A long discussion had taken place prior to the Princess’s visit, as to whether she should walk up the stairs to the first floor or take the lift. The lift had won by five votes to four. An equally fraught decision was who shouldaccompany her in the lift. The Commissioner, Commander Hawksby and William made the shortlist, while the Princess’s lady-in-waiting would take the second lift, along with Inspector Ross Hogan and Detective Sergeant Roycroft. The book tells the testimonies of guys born worlds apart. They don’t have anything in common besides the same date of birth and an eagerness to reach life. William Lowell Kane is a rich and effective elite magnificence, whilst Abel Rosnovski is a pole who was born in a scenario of wonderful poverty and finally migrated to the United States.

Most students could not understand how he was able to have houses and cars to his name yet he only worked part-time jobs as a fundraiser for the charity organization, Oxfam. This season saw him meet his future wife, Mary Weeden, who happened to be a chemistry student in the Oxford college of St Anne’s. They later on had two sons both of whom became politicians. After graduating from College, he continued his fundraising work this time for a medical charity known as The National Birthday Trust. There were a couple of uncomfortable moments for me (but then I got over myself...) when the story wove around characters who were real people and members of the British Royal Family, with one behaving very indiscreetly! She was acquitted of being an accessory after the fact. However, the jury did take considerably longer reaching their decision.’ Despite the slow start - Archer setting the scene! - I soon became invested in the storyline. Anyone not familiar with this author's writing may see the first half of Next in Line as not having much happening because all the action takes place quite late in the book. But believe me, it's worth the wait. Many thanks to Harper 360/HarperCollins for the opportunity to read Next in Line in advance of its publication. MY THOUGHTS: Archer has crafted yet another cunning plot, with three interwoven threads; one involving a threat to HRH the Princess of Wales. Miles Faulkner and his dodgy legal representative Booth-Watson make a reappearance, as does Faulkner's estranged wife Christine. James, who we met in Over My Dead Body, also reappears, and I believe he will also be featuring in Book #6. They were rescued by the museum’s curator, who stepped forward and said, ‘Gwynne Evans and Peter Allen, ma’am, were hanged for the murder of John Alan West on the thirteenth of August, 1964. The following year, a private member’s bill to abolish hanging became law. However, it may interest you to know, ma’am, you can still be hanged for treason, or piracy with violence.’ Omg reading his books is the best and work gets in the way of them sometimes, I always need to really think about the time I have so I don’t get to an exciting bit but that never works. Love them and really enjoy that you can get I to the book yourself Reply

It’s 1988 and Britain is in the middle of their love affair with Diana, the People’s Princess. While many in the Royal Family prefer to keep a low profile, Diana attracts the flashbulb like none before her. This nothing new, but something is on the horizon, lowing the tabloids to feast on all the crumbs tossed their way. EXCERPT: An outrider from the Special Forces Group swept into Scotland Yard, closely followed by a green Jaguar and an unmarked Land Rover, while two police motorcycles brought up the rear, completing the royal convoy. William turned bright red, while his number two, Inspector Ross Hogan, stifled a laugh, causing Artemisia to burst into tears. The Princess leant down again, took the little girl in her arms and said, ‘Because I’m not a Queen, Artemisia, just a Princess.’His first novel was written when he was thirty four years of age. Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less was first published in the US and later in Britain by Deborah Owen, a literary agent. This book turned to be the silver lining in the cloud when at the brink of bankruptcy, Jeffrey Archer was able to make quite a fortune from sales. Between the early 80s and 90s this novel went on to be made into both TV and radio adaptations which were aired in BBC television and Radio 4 respectively. THE UNPUTDOWNABLE NEW THRILLER FROM THE BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF THE CLIFTON CHRONICLES - PERFECT FOR FANS OF KEN FOLLET, JOHN GRISHAM and DANIEL SILVA Abel moves to America through escaping to Siberia and Turkey in the height of World War I. He built his way right from the bottom to become a wealthy hotel chain owner. William’s father dies and his step-father mishandles their wealth. He is determined to bring things under control and build a name for himself as a top banker. Both of them are consumed by the desire to make it in life and discredit their critics and are fueled by hatred for the people and circumstances which made life difficult for them while growing up. When their paths eventually cross, they become enemies and each purposes to destroy the other. In 1985, CBS made Kane and Abel into a television mini-series. William had his script well prepared, but was immediately thrown off course by HRH’s first question. The fact she disobeyed you probably means she’ll be the most interesting person I’ll meet today,’ whispered Diana as the lift doors closed. ‘Why did you call her Artemisia?’

The life and times of Mr Archer form a story of their own. Born in the great country of England, he rose to become not only an honorable British citizen but also a politician. His political responsibilities saw him resign after a scandal but later on return to politics. The second time round, the intrigues of politics saw him land an imprisonment term which unceremoniously ended his political career. Through all these, the author that was in him came to life and all through, he continues to thrill his readers and expand his fan-base. Born on the 15th of April 1940 in a London Hospital,he was officially named Jeffrey Howard Archer. During this period he also began his political career. Between 1967 and 1970, he served as a Councillor in the Greater London Council. He went on to become Member of Parliament for the constituency of Louth under the Conservative Party. He had an eventful political career amidst allegations of fraud and much apprehension at his ability to be a leader. They were a gift from a particularly unpleasant individual to his fiancée a few days after she had jilted him. When she held them up to her eyes and adjusted the focus, two nails shot out and blinded her. At his trial the accused was asked by prosecuting counsel why he’d done such an evil thing, and he simply replied, “I didn’t want her to look at another man ever again.”’ Fascinating, Chief Inspector, would be a better description of the past hour,’ replied the Princess as William accompanied her out of the museum.Yes, ma’am,’ said William, remembering that the Hawk had told him that ‘ma’am’ had to rhyme with ‘spam’, not ‘harm’. Once the Princess’s convoy had disappeared from sight, the Commissioner and the Hawk walked across to join them. This is another wonderful and engrossing book from Jeffrey Archer, which I loved. I whizzed through it, as it was fast paced and full of action, which kept me excited and eager to read on. Combat breaks out; Bernie is stabbed and dies. Danny is blamed for his homicide in a well-orchestrated plot by Spencer and his friends: a famous actor, an aristocrat, and a younger property agent. 5] A Matter of Honour (1986) The Clifton Chronicles is divided into seven novels that are Only Time Will Tell (2011), The Sins of the Father (2012), Best Kept Secret (2013), Be Careful What You Wish For (2014), Mightier Than the Sword (2015), Cometh the Hour (2016) and This Was a Man (2016).
