About this deal

There are lots of good things to say about the Remington hair curler, and if you’re in the market for a new curling wand then Remington is a good brand for a hair curler. Your hair is unique. That’s why the PROluxe You® Range including a hair dyer, hair straighter and hair styler, is made for you. Its Intelligent StyleAdapt™ Technology learns, adapts and personalises the heat to your hairs’ own styling needs – so you can achieve All Day Lasting*, Healthier** salon-quality results that are tailored to you. As you style the sensor along the barrel reads your hair’s temperature More than 5500 Times***per styling session, learning about your hair and styling technique.

As you can get quite a lot of hair between the plates at once, it took around 15 minutes to fully straighten my shoulder-length hair in four sections. I was impressed with the results: shiny hair that felt soft and silky with just a small amount of static. I’ve had this kind of result from straighteners before, only to find that I have fluffy and frizzy hair come lunchtime, but these really did go the distance, and my hair was just as satisfyingly sleek by evening. For the tool to learn about your hair, you need to wrap your hair around the StyleAdapt sensor that takes the form of a raised bar that’s approximately 4cm long on the underside of the wand, and wait 10-20 seconds for your hair to curl, whilst an LED indicator spins to show that the styler is learning about your hair.

PROluxe You™ Adaptive Straightener

If you share your straighteners with someone else, Remington has catered for that too. There is the option to move the mode to StyleAdapt2, a second profile that means someone else can personalize the straightener to their hair type without overriding your settings. This is hotter than I would usually go (for reference, my GHD Platinum+ hair straightener is set at 185°C) and I haven’t yet tested for long enough to see how this would impact the health of my hair. It is a catch-22 situation, as I would need to pass over each section of hair multiple times using these straighteners at lower temperatures, compared to just one pass at a higher heat setting. For these reasons, I’d be likely to switch between adaptive and manual modes. Remington Proluxe You Adaptive Straightener review: My verdict If you are sharing your curler, you can press the StyleAdapt button (a small hexagon enclosed in a larger hexagon shape) to reveal StyleAdapt 2 on the display, which means that someone else can use it without the tool unlearning what it has about your hair.

Although I didn’t personally see a difference in using the hair dryer (I’ve been using it for about four weeks) I do trust that Remington is a good brand that knows what they’re doing when it comes to hair care. I liked the result of luscious curls without any frizz or damage, and I felt that the tool provided both healthier styling and the loose curls that I was looking for. Positioned at the front of the hair dryer underneath the cold shot button is a hexagon shaped sensor. This allows you to choose how you would like your hair to be dried, according to the personal needs of your hair. I like the glamorous aesthetic, as you truly feel like you’re bringing the salon into your home, with its variety of concentrators, glossy ceramic coating and LCD display. We all want to create that salon-quality blow-dry, but finding the right temperature setting or technique for creating it can be difficult. Your hair is unique, so what works for someone else might not work for you. That’s why the PROluxe You Adaptive Hairdryer features The sensor feeds the temperature readings into an Intelligent Microprocessor, and after styling each section the LED Indicator spins as it adjusts the heat of the barrel to the ideal temperature for your hair. After using the Remington Proluxe You Adaptive Wand. Photo: Emma Hobday My overall thoughts on the Remington PROluxe You Adaptive Wand I feel that although I couldn’t see any visible changes, that my hair was still being better looked after than if I were to use a standard hair dryer, due to its personalised styling and personalised heat settings.

Remington hair straighteners come with ultra-thin plates that are a brilliant option for achieving straight hair and soft curls. And have a look at our BaByliss hair straighteners too. Or, for frizzy hair, our range of wide plate straighteners is ideal for helping you achieve a glossy shine with a natural healthy look. So, what's the verdict of my Remington Proluxe You Adaptive Straightener review? If you’re looking for a smart straightener that knows how to give you smooth, sleek hair fast, then this is worth every single penny. It glides through their hair easily with no snagging, and the results are long-lasting. You will need to be a little patient though, as it does take a few uses for the straighteners to fully adapt to your hair’s needs. The PROluxe You Adaptive Straightener has 2 StyleAdapt user profiles to store two sets of unique user data. Both users can individually store their personalised heat setting - perfect for if you share your straighteners with someone else. I’m a bit of a control freak, so although it’s the key selling point of the styler, I personally didn’t love relinquishing control of the heat settings in the adaptive mode. As I do use heat regularly, I want to keep split ends to a minimum so tend to use my straighteners on a hotter setting after washing, and then on a cooler one for touch-ups in between.

I loved the idea of a styler that adapts to my hair, but I can’t truthfully say that I’ve seen a difference from a standard curler.
