About this deal

This once thriving Roman city met a catastrophic fate in 79 AD when it was consumed by the lava from Mount Vesuvius. The city remained concealed until its rediscovery in the 17th century.

What a great guide. One question though. I seem to have read somewhere that the train from Fiumicino airport stops at Roma Trastevere station. Is that correct? Rome is filled with breathtaking and historical art pieces, top to bottom. But when you finally arrive on Roman soil, it might feel overwhelming. What museums, what churches, what piazzas and fountains are you supposed to see and when? Well, to quench your thirst for classical statues, we have compiled the perfect must-see list and where to find them (and what they mean, just in case the museum is too crowded to stop and read the plaque). 6. Boxer at Rest One of the principal occupations on the Steps is to just sit there and watch the world go by. When you are tired of watching people, walk around. There are many artists and caricaturists who will sketch or paint your portrait for a fee. I adored this story. The main character, Emilia, takes a solo trip to Rome, a trip that was supposed to be taken with her now ex-boyfriend. As she is in Rome for six days, she discovers her true self again. The tour also includes a lunch featuring an authentic Neapolitan pizza, adding an extra touch of local flavor to your experience. I book my day trip to the Amalfi coast now! I want to visit the Amalfi Coast from Rome Amalfi Coast – Italy Option 4: Visit Civita di Bagnoregio

Remember to wear comfortable shoes for exploring this charming village and the surrounding nature. Castel Gandolfo Option 3: Discover the Amalfi Coast Via Margutta:after lunch, explore this street, which is one of the most picturesque streets of Rome. Admire the ivy-clad walls, the buildings and the atmosphere. The Explora Museum is another must-visit, especially for young visitors. This interactive museum offers a plethora of activities to keep the kids engaged. You can include this visit in your 3rd day’s itinerary.

Giacco’s novel is proof that a book doesn’t require a flashy plot to carry enormous weight. Emilia grapples with her role as an artist, memories of her previous relationship, and what it means to love people in her life who perhaps do not deserve it. The characters are flawed and real and conclusions are not wrapped up tidily. This is a quiet exploration of heartbreak, art, freedom, memory, and new beginnings, made all the more powerful by the deftness with which Giacco reveals the characters to the reader and to each other.

Both Rome Fiumicino and Ciampino are a 40-minute drive away. The hotel can help to arrange transfers on request. Trains The writing in this book is beautiful, I can’t wait to see what the author comes out with next! It is a purely contemplative, character based read, so don’t go in expecting a big plot! It still kept me captivating the entire time. Some of Emilia’s thoughts I’ve definitely had myself at one point- it is a very relatable story that will make you think! Piazza Farnese:named after the opulent Palazzo Farnese, which is one of the highest Renaissance palazzos in Rome and the seat of the French Embassy. There are also two beautiful fountains in the square, created from granite bathtubs taken from the ancient Baths of Caracalla. Coliseum - you won't be able to go in, but you can at least see it from the outside. pretty impressive in itself. The Sistine Chapel, whose ceilings are filled with Michelangelo’s one-of-a-kind frescoes, is on its own a reason to visit this centuries’ old museums. Not to mention the iconic spiral staircase designed by Giuseppe Momo in 1832, made up of two iron stairways that form a double helix – no wonder it’s one of the most photographed staircases in the world!
