The only thing Fidelio X2 is better than SHP9500 is in bass department..personally i think X2 need proper amp to shine while SHP9500 doesn't need an amp. The midrange is pretty darn good at the price point. It is a little recessed as indicative of the 1k-5k scoop, but they don't sound hollow at all. Male voices are nicely rendered. The midrange feels much less congested than the HD 650 or LCD-2. Mid-bass doesn't bleed at all into it, which it does in the HD 650, so naturally the mids sound less congested than the HD 650. I'm not going to get into the Sennheiser veil debate at all, but let's just leave it here that the mids on the Philips are more open than the HD 650. They're not as liquid and luscious, either, but they're tastefully done. If you are specifically looking for a V-shape curve, these should be on your list.

It doesn’t really make much of a difference in practice though as most mobile devices will power either of them just fine. For sound quality. These have all the sound stage in the world. All of it. I mean IMPOSSIBLE levels of sound stage. Listening to these ruined some of my old favorite cans the moment these went on my head. Imaging is insane, which is yet another reason I use them for movie watching, and best of all they're SUPER easy to drive. The only dig I have is I kinda wish they had more bass, but it's really not a big deal. Vocal clarity is awesome, mids are super clear, and not even a hint of sibilance.Can trust me wont go wrong except for a few flaws. Comfort, clarity and such awesomeness could have been costed more. I notice parts of the song that I haven't noticed before though granted, I came from my phone's integrated speakers since my 2 previous headphones broke. Aside from new details, existing elements of the song that I already know also takes up a new nature with more rhythm and detail. I recently had my Audeze LCD-2F repaired by Audeze due to failed drivers. They are no longer "F" headphones, but I don't know exactly which drivers they put in there since they have had many revisions over the years. I never asked because I was playing with house money since they fixed them for free a year after the warranty expired. Responds relatively well to EQ, but may be received as bloat if you don’t necessarily like amount over fidelity. However if you like bass, and are uninitiated to higher-end bass, I think you will still be blown away, as my friend was during our listening. Otherwise, the Fidelio X2/HRs are most definitely a better budget choice for you, for bass-heads should be most careful with these headphones, as you will see in the treble section. the debate rages on whether this is my brain becoming acclimated to the sound, or if burn-in is a real thing.

The notes may not have had as much impact on a 9500, but darn if they weren’t incredibly articulate and crystal clear! As for the treble, Musical presentation is completely transparent and they reveal everything as it was intended to sound like. They simply do not fool you colouring the music. The sound of these headphones are basically focused well on the mids and the vocal performance in these cans are truly phenomenal. Then again I've never heard SHP9600 so this is all speculation. However I did own SHP9500 and I didn't like it for music (didn't try gaming). My "bar" was Denon D2000 and I thought it was better on everything. My friend with HD800 and HD650 also didn't like SHP9500 either (we each bought a pair at the same time). I’m glad Philips didn’t butcher the headphones with an overly accentuated low end, so don’t get me wrong. Right out of the gate, these are the most comfortable set of headphones ever. I use them primarily for watching TV late at night, and have fallen asleep wearing them multiple times. The ear pads are huge, the foam is soft, and the covers are just nice. They're more comfortable than the pillows on my couch. The included cable is great, and they use a normal 3.5mm detachable cable, so you can replace it with anything you want. It's long enough to get from my receiver to the couch without an extension cord which is just another plus.That’s it. The specs listed on the box have changed a little bit. But I can’t find any reports that this is a new driver. The differences between the two models are akin to those between the Sony MDR-V6 and the 7506; they’re basically cosmetic. Sound Can't complain about anything. Comfort is great, if you have big ears they may touch the drivers but it's not an issue for me.
