If you are just getting started with setting up your Sonos surround sound speaker system, do not fret. This system was made to be user-friendly for those of us who are not as technologically savvy as others might be. Of course, both speakers can be controlled by the Sonos S2 app, which comes with all the multi-room powers that Sonos is renowned for, as well as plenty of EQ settings, music streaming service and radio integration. Both speakers are a doddle to set up and use. From here, you just need to hardwire one of your Sonos speakers to your computer via its aux port. If you have two of the same speakers — like two Era 100s — you'll want to first create a stereo pair ( see steps above) and then hardwired one of those speakers into your computer; they will stay stereo paired when you designate one as your computer's default speaker. Now don't get us wrong, despite its dated design, the Play:3 still sounds excellent. It also still receives software updates - such as TruePlay tuning - meaning it continues to improve and develop. This works as you pair each Sonos speaker in your surround sound system to the same Wi-Fi network as your phone or computer (whichever you plan to use as the controller). Then, using the Sonos App on the controller, you can manipulate the sound for the audio experience of your dreams.

To make your sound icon appears on your Mac's menu bar, go to System Preferences > Sound > and select the bottom option that says "Show Sound in menu bar" > and select "always" in the drop-down menu. You will no longer have to connect each speaker to the next and facilitate a technological masterpiece within your home’s media room. Instead, you can connect the speakers to one another via Wi-Fi and manage them on your Sonos App. Instead of having to plug each speaker into the next one and running multiple cables throughout your audio streaming area, you can simply connect them over Wi-Fi and omit the jumble of cords. The beauty of the Sonos system is that you can start with one speaker, and later add more to the system in different rooms – as many speakers as you like up to 32 (in case you happen to live in a palace).
