Raihn goddamn, this man istg. In my review of The Serpent and the Wings of Night I said that after that ending he better GROVEL AND BEG for Oraya and I got SERVED with my request. Everything that I needed from Book One, I got in this instalment. I almost don’t mind that the author took a plot-driven route with the first book, even though I still feel like the balance between plot and the characters could’ve been better handled. I mean, I have to talk about Raihn and Oraya. Have to. 🥹 Favourite new characters, without a doubt. This tumultuous father-daughter relationship is the most complicated thing in this book and not just because of the convoluted personality of Vincent it was also because there were so many things he hid from her and how he left Oraya in the dark without any answers which made her question her own existence. He thought he wasn't capable of love because of all the cruelty he's witnessed in their world but Oraya changed that part of him the moment he saw her. He loved her fiercely and all consuming but he also manipulated her life. But that doesn't changes the fact that he tried and tried for her even though he failed because of his selfishness and fear.The best time to read a book depends on your personal schedule and preferences. Here are some suggestions: Aiden Snow** is a romance and erotica narrator who has been called "the crown prince of audio romance." His rich baritone has garnered a solid fan base and has allowed him to range from paranormal romance to military romance, from "motorcycle bad boy" to "boardroom dom." To him, every romance is true love, and every erotic romance is true desire.

Raihn- One fit to be called king. He has two different roles- to be a leader to his subjects which requires him to make tough decisions and present an equally tough exterior; also to be a husband to not only a queen but his lover while desperately trying to make things up with her. I really liked how balanced his two sides were. He was so smitten by Oraya, and he actually shows that in his actions.Power hurts. It requires sacrifice. Do you want to change this world, little serpent? Climb the bars until you’re so high no one can catch you. I told you that once. I know because I did it, my daughter. I know.” Other than him being an entitled brat, there is nothing to say about him because Oraya is the actual villain here. Anyway.
In the meantime, I hope you absolutely love this book, friends. I put my heart and soul into it, and I hope it shows. Thank you, thank you, thank you for taking the ride with me! Oraya is so, so, so angry in this one. Mad at herself for letting someone in and them breaking her trust. Mad at herself for loving people even though they’ve hurt her. And even worse, mad at herself that even though she’s furious, she can’t stop herself from loving these people. It’s agonising to watch and read about. Because although you scream at her to fight, you know you would feel the same. She felt so real, I felt her anger. Her hate. It was insane. Strange, that these Marks supposedly branded us as innate enemies. And yet, they were obvious mates to each other.” In the nearer term, Slaying the Vampire Conqueror, a standalone full-length novel in the Crowns of Nyaxia world, is coming in just two weeks, if you need to ease your book hangover. ;) But I'll save all that rambling for another time.
