Especially if you like that whole gorgeous, charming lawyer-in-a-good-suit thing. He's also infuriating. Will Liya keep running, or will she finally give love a real chance? Find out in this laugh-out-loud romantic comedy debut about first impressions, second chances, and finding the love of your life in the most unexpected way. can you please hurry up?” you say and the man shoots you a look of disappointment, that’s perfectly alright your mom gives you that look 24/7.

you bite your lips, heart pounding against your chest. taking a deep breath you lift your arms to lift yourself up, rising over the wall where you see seonghwa with his arms spread wide. and then you went to your university, eyes widened and body shook at the fact that those people you launched a broom at were the very own so called bad boys of your school. Liya is brash and rude at times. She has lived a hard time- her emotionally abusive father is terrible and Liya was molested at 15. This is a huge plot point of the book. She told her parents of the abuse and they didn’t believe her. Her tight knit community sees her as a whore and has ostracized her. She is determined that Jay will only ever see and believe the “bad” version of her so she keeps him at arm’s length. The whole “the community thinks I am a whore” aka slut shaming aspect was too much for me. because what is park seonghwa doing laying on a street, all bruised up and beaten at two in the morning.

Don’t let a few bad days and a few idiots unravel the determination that you’ve had since you were a kid. You’ll make mistakes, Pree. You’re not perfect, no one is, and although you hold yourself to incredibly high standards because you take your responsibility and privilege seriously, you can’t beat yourself up for every mistake. But the fact that you do shows how much you care. Mistakes are just that. They don’t always reflect your skill or intelligence.” Often new authors struggle to give their characters the space to really hate each other (I don't want people who only dislike one another for a chapter and then are in love!), but the simmering enemies-to-lovers storyline in this book was truly a thing of beauty. The two main characters were self-actualized adults who took time to sort through their problems, and the fact that Liya was casually a biochemical engineer was even better. A little repetition aside, I was hooked from start to finish and read this novel in one sitting. I enjoyed the story itself, I really did, but I am about to say what I truly thought of The Trouble with Hating You. With witty banter and fascinating characters, Sajni Patel takes the classic enemies to lovers trope to a deliciously charming level. I loved everything about this book.” - Farrah Rochon,USA Todaybestselling author

today’s the very first tutoring session you have with park seonghwa, not only did you finish the first year’s tutoring a little early but also made sure to clean the library. Jay Shah looks good on paper...and off. Especially if you like that whole gorgeous, charming lawyer-in-a-good-suit thing. He's also arrogant and infuriating. As their witty office banter turns into late night chats, Liya starts to think he might be the one man who truly accepts her. But falling for each other means exposing their painful pasts. Will Liya keep running, or will she finally give love a real chance? You're not this quiet, lost person. Where did you go?" I cupped her cheek and searched her eyes for the vibrant, full-of-life fighter that was somewhere in there. Playlists containing THE TROUBLE WITH HATING YOU by Sajni Patel Read by Soneela Nankani - Audiobook ExcerptI hated the judgemental way in which Liya's completely normal lifestyle is portrayed as (and I don't mean that because within her community she's labelled as 'bad' but because the way the story unfolds suggests that her 'carefree' attitude towards sex lands her in trouble or with troubled men). By the end it seemed that the only reason why Liya no longer feels 'broken' is because of Jay. I connected with both characters and I find them cute and sweet.Liya is an amazing heroine, and Jay is swoon worthy! if that’s alright,” he nods, “i’ll sleep on the couch, this one.” he pats the one he’s sitting on and you nod slowly. also the amount of rhetorical questions in every freaking chapter, it reminded me of my year 8 essays when i had just learned how rhetorical questions are used to engage the reader in the text and i tried putting abit too many in my essays thinking i'll get more marks. oh my god seonghwa, you have an early midterm in a week and you’re here eating noodles in the library?!”

you roll your eyes and walk past him but he runs to match your pace again, obnoxiously stomping loudly beside you to look at him. Also ....Yes there are lndian aunties who might pester you with questions but so are other women/ men in any part of the world 🤷🏽‍♀️ I think this was a great debut novel that I enjoyed reading. I loved the energy of the characters, and there was just the right amount of balance of both fun and serious. The topics were introduced within the context of the storyline and worked very well. it’s the way his smile only seems to increase when you match his pace, holding onto your books while your eyes look straight ahead ignoring his piercing stare.

It talks about how some cultures are still anchored in the past, living by the rules set hundreds of years before real, healthy mentality even existed. It talks about how women are supposed to aspire to marriage above everything else, but it also talks about how important it is for men to have a good wife too. It talks about all kinds of abuse. It talks about people not listening to other people. It talks about the importance of sacrifice. It talks about trust. It talks about freedom.

seonghwa narrows his eyes at you, shaking his head and letting his dark hair fall over his eyes. “do you hit everyone you meet with a broom?”

You should spend more time in the kitchen with your mother and learn how to cook. What will you feed your husband and children." The Trouble with Hating You is a hate-to-love romance about two very different characters. Liya is a very independent, outspoken, successful biochemical engineer and Jay is a charming, sweet, family-oriented lawyer. She momentarily glanced away, her lips quivering as if she were trying not to smile. "You talk like a man who has it bad." it’s then when someone lands on the ground behind the man, falling onto the concrete harshly and momentarily taking the attention away from you and the man. I've really struggled to put together a review for this book. In fact I have lost sleep as my brain has whirred trying to piece together something semi-coherent. Massive apologies as I fear I may have failed to do so! 🙈
