About this deal

Blu-ray: English 7.1 DTS-HDMA , English 5.1 Dolby Digital, English 2.0 Dolby Digital French 5.1 Dolby Digital, Spanish 5.1 Dolby Digital For those of you wondering— as we’ve confirmed with producer Jon Landau (see our video comment here) and various studio and industry sources—James Cameron’s Titanic, The Abyss, and True Lies are all currently in production for 4K Ultra HD release (and first-time Blu-ray release in the case of The Abyss and True Lies) later in the year. Those are all likely to be late Q3 or Q4 releases. Further details will be updates as we have them. Cameron revealed that a 4K transfer for The Abyss was completed last year in an interview with Space.com on December 18, 2021: Older films (pre-digital cameras) were not always perfect. There are frames that might seem blurry by today’s focus standards even after restoration. What’s more, there are times when the director may have chosen a not-so-sharp cut of a scene just because the acting may have been better (there were limits on takes in the negative film days). But, for the most part film restorations usually offer a new experience from movies you may have watched a dozen times before.

Yeah, we finished the transfer and I wanted to do it myself because Mikael [Salomon] did such a beautiful job with the cinematography on that film. It is truly, truly gorgeous cinematography. That was before I started to assert myself in terms of lighting and asking the cinematographer to do certain things. I’d compose with the camera and choose the lenses, but I left the lighting to him. He did a remarkable job on that movie that I appreciate better now than I did even as we were making it. The Simul-Cam – See how the newly created Simul-Cam seamlessly integrated the virtual world with the live action camera, allowing Jake’s avatar to appear in a scene with real-world actors Casting – Discover the screen tests that won the talented young cast their roles in Avatar: The Way of Water. And 14 years later, the first of several sequels finally land, and much to everyone’s surprise it became another outright success. Even at 3 hours. But why?Often voted one of the best films of all time (although curiously not in AFI’s Top 100) The Shawshank Redemption directed and written by Frank Darabont is what you might call a perfect movie. The film was nominated for 7 Oscars without one win including Best Picture, Best Actor in a Leading Role (Morgan Freeman), and Best Cinematography (Roger Deakins — also known for Blade Runner 2049, Fargo, and Skyfall). I don’t know what the Academy was thinking when the votes didn’t add up to at least one Oscar, but this is one film that must be released to Ultra HD. Update: The Shawshank Redemption was released on Ultra HD Blu-ray on Sept. 14, 2021. Read Review Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003) from Miramax Kill Bill: Vol. 1 & 2 Our sources continue to report that Disney is likely to release both James Cameron’s original Avatar (2009) and his long-awaited remaster of The Abyss (1989) on physical 4K Ultra HD early next year,” Hunt wrote in an update on Tuesday. Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has just set Missing for Blu-ray release on 3/28. The Digital version is now available. Pandora Flora – Explore the science behind the Pandoran rainforest, including the exotic plants and bioluminescence. I’ve also given up on all the scientific nonsense as well, the world is alien; bullets might move through water as in air, liquid brain juice might actually stop aging, alien children might actually talk like kids from LA, aliens might very well have Mouri tattoos and mannerisms, who knows for sure. And with all the scientific advances made, mankind are still genocidal maniacs – of course they are.

Becoming Na’vi – The Avatar cast is immersed in the culture of the indigenous Na’vi, living off the land in the Hawaiian rainforest and training in a multitude of disciplines in preparation for their roles. match the often stunning level of detail that the sequel regularly offers. Kind of interestingly, as with Avatar: The Way of Water 4K, there's noThe 3D Fusion Camera – Explore the newly designed 3D Fusion camera system which enabled the filmmakers to create an immersive stereographic experience. this is frequently a ravishing looking presentation, those coming to it after Avatar: The Way of Water 4K, as I did, may find themselves feeling as I did that this earlier film just can't quite And finally, Dennis has offered his take on Julien Duvivier’s Flesh and Fantasy (1943) on Blu-ray from Universal Pictures via Vinegar Syndrome. Podcast, we discussed Avatar: The Way of Water , and showed the unopened 3D version of the original film. In viewing this remastered in 4K version we found our thoughts unchanged and so present that original review:
