About this deal

While the name, David Walliams, might ring a bell for lovers of Little Britain, it’s his kids books that have made Walliams a household name.

Do we need to point the metaphorical finger and say YOU are DIFFERENT but that is OK, congratulating ourselves for being so tolerant? What is "different" these days? We live in increasingly multicultural and liberal societies where what is neither easy nor desirable to identify what is NORMAL.Boogie Bear is an unknown type of character that is fictional. It´s probably the main character of a children´s book, or picture book, since Carly doesn't count the books as "real" books in the episode, iFence. We don't know who and what Boogie Bear is, only that he is a bear. He probably likes to boogie, or dance. There is a series about Boogie Bear.

The POLAR BEAR is DIFFERENT from the BROWN BEARS. BUT we can ACCEPT that (and like) her for who she is. Joe has a lot of reasons to be happy. About a billion of them, in fact. You see, Joe’s rich. Really, really rich. Joe’s got his own bowling alley, his own cinema, even his own butler who is also an orangutan. He’s the wealthiest twelve-year-old in the land. But Joe isn’t happy. Why not? Because he’s got a billion pounds… and not a single friend. Boogie Bear is the fifth picture book from bestselling creators David Walliams and Tony Ross punished by HarperCollins Children’s Books. There’s no stopping this couple of incredible British talents. Since 2008 he has taken the children’s literary world by storm, with some even crowning him ‘the new Roald Dahl’.Miranda loves to be different, and on Bring-your-pet-to-school Day she introduces everyone to her very DIFFERENT pet… Penelope the snake. Miss Bloat the headmistress doesn’t think snakes should be allowed in school. But Penelope has other ideas… And it’s not hard to see why. Walliams’ stories touch the hearts (and funny bones) of children of all ages. So, to help you make the right choice for the child in your life, here’s a handy guide! Two big hippos. One ENORMOUS dream. Who can make it to the moon first? 3 . . . 2 . . . 1 . . .BLAST OFF! I am not trying to claim "not to see colour" or similar. I hope instead my point is that maybe, rather than categorizing people and then comparing them to (somehow identifiable) dominant groups, we instead accept that we exist on an infinite number of points on an infinite series of spectrums where, while characteristics may be shared within groups, there are also many many distinctions. Sure, there are shared experiences within roughly defined groups, but I feel like this book was a bit more simplistic than that.

Make your appointment if you dare… Darkness had come to the town. Strange things were happening in the dead of night. Children would put a tooth under their pillow for the tooth fairy, but in the morning they would wake up to find… a dead slug; a live spider; hundreds of earwigs creeping and crawling beneath their pillow. Evil was at work. But who or what was behind it? Bad Dad is a fast and furious, heart-warming story of a father and son on an adventure – and a thrilling mission to break an innocent man into prison! At the top of the world, surrounded by snow and ice, lives a very cheeky polar bear cub who loves to go… BOO! But this little bear cub doesn’t always know when to stop. The ‘Boogie Bear’ is an ideal book for younger children to have read to them during group time or as a reference point to create an elaborated story from. The book contains opportunities for the teacher to create humour and hold the children’s attention in suspense due to the vocab used. Teachers can use the story and vocab to adjust their tone and pitch of voice, creating the tension. Coral is a bounty hunter that has her own version of the SIG gas. A version that causes any person that breathes it in to experience frightening hallucinations. During her missions, she uses that gas alongside her Boogie Bears! The Boogie Bears are extremely cute plushies that she makes and takes care of with lots of love, but they can become the nightmare of anyone who gets in her way. Dennis was different. Why was he different, you ask? Well, a small clue might be in the title of this book. David Walliams’s beautiful first novel will touch the hearts (and funny bones) of children and adults alike.
