Overall, this is a non-stop, fast-paced, crazy adventure that’s fun to get lost in. If you’re a fan of Neil Gaiman or even Roald Dahl stories, give this one a try. I'm not even sure what my process is and I've been doing this for 30 years. Normally, at some point, I will pull open a notebook and I will start writing stuff and that's always the beginning of the process. At the end of the day, if you're writing something that's novel length or is probably likely to turn into novel length, the process is going to consist of faffing around in the morning, getting your exercise done, maybe eating a light lunch and then going somewhere that you won't be disturbed, opening a notebook and writing. And, wherever that place is, that's going to be the process. It's going to be putting down the words.

I really want to do a musical. I'd really like to be involved, day in, day out, with putting a good stage play together. Just haven't done it yet and really ought to. I think because for me the challenge as an author is in making somebody believable and letting them find their own way through things. I love though that in Fortunately, the Milk when the father does actually save himself and, quite possibly, the universe, all anybody is really impressed with is the milk, and they fail to notice it's him. Twice they get hold of the green stone, coming at it from two different time trips, which prompts the professor to explain his theory: "[A]ccording to my calculations, if the same object from two different times touches itself, one of two things will happen. Either the Universe will cease to exist. Or three remarkable dwarfs will dance through the streets with flowerpots on their heads." The father replies, "That sounds astonishingly specific." Yet time and again, the professor's theories are borne out. Fortunately, they resolve the dilemma without touching the two green stones (the same one, but from different time periods) together. But will a moment arrive when they are in a similar predicament, perhaps involving the milk? Yes. This book is an absolute feast for the imagination. You follow Dad on his ludicrous tale as he explains to his children why he took so long fetching milk from the shop. It is brimming with joy and silliness. If you decide to read it, keep in mind that it's a short story oriented for children, so please, don't harm the rating of this sweet book just because you were expecting "Neil Gaiman, the great mind behind Sandman and American Gods".

Spoons are excellent. Sort of like forks, only not as stabby.― Neil Gaiman, Fortunately, The Milk About This is an excellent book to read aloud to 4th grade kids who are in the process of developing a sense for the absurdities of life. It is mainly about telling stories and that you can make up a great plot about anything, no matter how boring the so-called truth of every-day life is. Small things give you big ideas - and they don't have to make sense. It has good characters. The dad is a funny dad. I also like the brother and sister because they are not stupid. They ask the dad clever questions to try and trap him, but he is good at wiggling out of trouble. Father was actually lying about it as he got late in coming or he was telling the truth? I have a very confused feeling about it.A fun recommended read for any and all adventurers and time traveling fans. And as always—a must read for Gaiman fans! I never know where he will take me. It may be the middle of the summer holidays, but our minds are on World Book Day (7 months and counting!). If you don't get it, please do some memory tests, since you have to get it, you just read it less than hour ago! Oh, if you are of the ones that skip the final credits, well, you will miss something really funny. (Nope, I won't tell, it's not my fault that you were in such hurry to leave the book!) At this point in your career, are you able to take Stephen King's advice (mentioned in your " Make Good Art" speech) and think to yourself, "This is really great" and just "enjoy it"? But how could they? Don't they know that I have been a fan of his since the Sandman days, before he was "cool"?'I bought the milk,” said my father. “I walked out of the corner shop, and heard a noise like this: t h u m m t h u m m.
