About this deal

Desperate for help with your ADHD children? Tearing your hair out trying to understand why they don’t react or behave like other kids? Wanting to do the right thing – but not a clue what that is? Help is at hand!

I am a mom of an ADHD kid that is significantly impacted. He is honest to a fault and doesn't have violent outbursts. And he's the oldest so that means younger siblings. When he gets mad he says "Ugh! I'm so mad right I need to go sit down in my room!" Quoted by my friend, a fellow ADHD mum, ‘This book is a great read. I like the parts where children with ADHD talk about their thoughts and feelings, and how certain things we do as parents make them feel. It was quite enlightening!’. So, I didn't give 5 stars overall because not all the information in here is representative of the broad spectrum that is ADHD. The author has her experience primarily with juvenile offenders and this book is skewed towards that and some parents might be terrified that their darling child will become one as well. Trust me not all kids/people with ADHD lie, steal, have violent outbursts... Personally, this is my favourite so far. I think it’s brilliant. Probably because I like humour to get through my day and this has loads of that. The insight that she has from having ADHD herself really helps to put the points across. This is my new go-to book for sure. I listened to this on Audible and loved it – Sarah’s clear, straight talking style and ability to cut through to exactly what you need to know is excellent. I now will be buying the hard copy too as it’s such a good repository to dip into for guidance as things arise.

I found this book really useful. Because my daughter has ADHD and ODD, explosive is the exact word I would use for her! The book breaks down an ADHD child’s behaviours in a very logical and understandable way. It explains that rather than seeing your child as misbehaving, view more that they simply haven’t developed the skills yet to deal with that particular situation. This book guides you on how. It was an eye-opener. Sarah Templeton, a therapist with ADHD herself, has written this book after working with hundreds of ADHD parents from all over the UK who have told her, ‘’if only I’d known all this stuff while they were growing up’’. I’d brought it to help me with my son but actually found it vey enlightening and reassuring for me. I’m newly diagnosed and found this book just cemented things for me. Sarah Templeton is a specialist in ADHD. Moreover, Sarah has ADHD herself and has been helping people for over 20 years. Recently Sarah Templeton has become an author, writting the book ‘How NOT to Murder your ADHD kid – Instead Learn how to be your own child’s ADHD Coach’ . If any professional knows about ADHD, it is Russell A. Barkley….All in all, this is a splendid book.” —Child and Family Behavior Therapy Comments

It avoids all the unnecessary detailed neuroscience and focuses on what it’s actually like to live with or have ADHD.Desperate for help with your ADHD children? Tearing your hair out trying to understand why they don’t react or behave like other kids? Want to do the right thing - but don't have a clue what that is? Help is at hand! All parents should read this book, especially those with children who are out of control. Ross Greene presents a loving, rational, and research-based approach to dealing with problems that most parents have either felt were their own fault or were unsolvable. I could not recommend this book more highly.” —Edward Hallowell, M.D., author ofDriven to Distraction Comments

I love watching his YouTube videos and would highly recommend you watch them. I do, however, love books, something to have and hold. I’m old school. Some people find his approach authoritarian but, as with all parenting books, I would recommend you take the parts from it that suit you and your family. My daughter would never, ever do time out! When people told me to put her in timeout or on the naughty step, I would tell them to first produce a unicorn singing Sinatra. Do what you can. Sarah gives the issue/ADHD trait, how it’s caused / why it happens and then gives useful solutions / ideas to support. Fab! And very logical! This comes about through them understanding their ADHD and knowing that they can use their drive, passion for winning and not liking being told what to do to achieve hugely in life. At the end of your tether with your ADHD kid and don’t know which way to turn?! Don’t panic! Help is at hand. Sarah clearly is an expert in her field – both with lived experience and through training and study and crucially, practice and with loads of ADHD folk and families. It’s a powerful combination.

As it states on the cover, this book is aimed at children from 6-18 years. One mum noted that as it is written by an American Dr, the parts on the assessment process are obviously targeted at the US way of getting an assessment. It was still regarded as a useful book to have. Sarah is an expert in all things ADHD. She works so successfully with ADHD clients because she understands the condition from the inside out” Dr Belda, ADHD Psychiatrist As an avid listener of audio books I happened to discover via my searches, the book ‘ HOW NOT TO MURDER YOUR ADHD KID – INSTEAD LEARN TO BE YOUR CHILD’S OWN ADHD COACH‘.

At the same time, my husband who has been living with high-functioning anxiety (unbeknown to me) which in recent years has been getting worse, started to see the same therapist. She also mentioned ADHD to him. This was building to a perfect storm! You won’t find another book like this. Written by an experienced counsellor with ADHD who really understands ADHD kids and how to get the best out of them.” Dr Sawhney, ADHD Specialist Paediatrician Comments This book, written by the very experienced Psychologist Dr Sharon Saline, is aimed at helping children with ADHD succeed in school and life.
