It is clear, though, that not everyone was amused, as was shown by the initial horror that Labour had done better than expected in the 2017 election. The Labour Party was divided and at war with itself. This book takes us through attempted coups, distrust, questionable rhetoric, splits, plots and intrigues. There are accusations of anti-Semitism, accusations of bullying and, at the heart of the matter, Labour’s inability to come up with a workable Brexit stance. Corbyn comes across as a fairly nice guy, but seemed unable to make decisions or take control. Rather than engage, those that worked with him said he had a tendency to withdraw. Namely, that day-to-day party politics - even for someone fairly interested in what's happening in politics - is stunningly dull. It makes 'Streets of Shame' in Private Eye sound interesting. It's populated with an endless cast of fractious weirdos, with roles and job titles that I genuinely have no idea what they do or who they are. Endless assistants and strategists and secretaries and chiefs of staff. I really struggle to find that interesting. She goes with her maid to a nearby camp with an enemy general named Holofernes who is preparing to battle against the very men she is trying to help. Holofernes is able to coerce her into providing information about the whereabouts of the Israelites.

Clearly, Corbyn wasn't helped by his loyalty to some dodgy people with bad ideas and through it all, was in a constant Cold War with his own deputy Tom Watson, a man who comes across variously as a principled champion of a more moderate Labour Party and a self-interested, self-obsessed, two-faced, scheming tosser. It depends on what you’re looking to gain. If you’re looking for applicable information that you can apply to your life, you might benefit from a New American Standard Bible because the translations correspond more with modern life.

The name of the book has created a lot of confusion because no one seems to have a solid understanding of who actually named the book 2 Ezra. Across many different versions of the Bible you will see 2 Ezra named something completely different. Tobit

Others believe that they simply didn’t “fit” the narrative of what the ancient text was trying to convey. That’s not to say that the removed books were inaccurate or false, it’s merely saying that they weren’t suited for the Bible because the information was inapplicable and didn’t have a place in the Bible narrative. Many of these works have been incorporated into Bibles for specific religious groups, such as Catholics or Protestants. There are many verses in this book that really go against what we all know and trust as Christians. We understand that the only way to heaven is through the Father. We know this is one of the most important pieces of salvation. Yet this book describes a different way to gain salvation. A record of these offerings tells us that Cyrus gave over 5,000 items to the treasurer. In turn, all of these items were given to the prince of Judah which helped Cyrus’ people establish a presence in Jerusalem again. In addition, the author's interpretation of a part in the Bible involving Abigail and King David was way off; this was really surprising. I am still unable to wrap my mind around her interpretation of that Scripture.Just like many other books that were banned due to their controversies, the Gospel of Mary was also removed because Christian Institutions considered the text to be heretical. The Infancy Gospel of Thomas While the Catholic faith continued to keep the books in a separate section of their Bible, looking across different versions of the Bible today you will find some contain all of these books, while some contain a select few. These texts provide a drastically different look on Jesus’ teaching and his life, which many frown upon. For instance, she has a chapter about abundance and scarcity - I've heard her speak on this before, and it is an interesting psychological concept, but she explained it poorly and over-spiritualized it. She included a quote that referenced the story of Joseph and the famine in the Bible - and the quote implied that there was abundance in all the world before this (not true - there were at least a couple famines before Joseph - Genesis 26:1), and then blamed all the scarcity in the land on Pharaoh, which isn't an accurate representation of what happened at all.
