About this deal

No doubt the desire not to bore the hell out of older kids, much less their parents, played a part; more likely, however, is that the filmmakers didn't want to have something too lame on their CV. The version of the theme song that Mr. Carbunkle plays for Pat on his phone is from the 1982 album. In 2019, director Mike Disa uploaded a workprint of the movie that had a completely different story. [3] Carbuncle takes advantage of Pat's newfound celebrity to replace him with a robot – part of a convoluted plan to take over the world. (It didn't seem a particularly viable plan to me, but presumably the tinies take this sort of thing on trust.) Kermode, Mark (25 May 2014). "Postman Pat: The Movie review – shiny, slightly scary spin-off". The Observer.

Postman Pat: The Movie DVD (United Kingdom) - Blu-ray

Pat is lured away from his village by the chance to find success on a national talent show. Meanwhile, the village of Greendale is under threat from robot copys of the famous postman. Can Pat stop this mayhem and make the choice between fame and loyalty? This film marks the return of Miss Hubbard, Major Forbes and George Lancaster. Miss Hubbard was last seen doing a cameo role in Postman Pat and the Green Rabbit and George and Major Forbes have not appeared since Postman Pat and the Big Surprise and Postman Pat and the Mystery Tour. It's also the first mentioning of Julia Pottage although she hasn't been since Postman Pat's Christmas Eve. Even though Brian George voices Ajay in the movie, T.J. Ramini voices him when he raps and with one speaking line ''Now arriving Greendale Station, Please disembark to your left''.With the two animation titans quietly on the sidelines for the most part, a dream-like scenario for other films to shine has been created. During the first half of the year several animated titles have hit theaters already all with varying degrees of success. Clearly the conditions are prime for some great and unique animated features to emerge. However, despite the many promising options, there will also be plenty of disappointments. Allan Hunter of the Daily Express gave it three stars, and said "Kids are going to love Postman Pat: The Movie even if adults might find it sacrilegious in its treatment of their beloved childhood favourite... It's a bit Wallace & Gromit, a bit Doctor Who and just as silly and overexcited as a four-year-old after an excess of fizzy drinks." [17] Having been denied his yearly bonus by a sinister corporate new broom called Carbuncle (Peter Woodward), Pat, voiced efficiently enough by a reined-in Stephen Mangan, enters the show to win a holiday to Italy, to make good on a promise to his wife.

I suspect the filmmakers thought this was a smart, down-with-the-kids move; if so, I can't help but feel it's a misjudgment, a serious overestimation of the development of the four-year-old's irony circuit. Edwards, David (23 May 2014). "Postman Pat: The Movie is dull, dated, disappointing and fails to deliver". Daily Mirror . Retrieved 15 September 2014. Meanwhile, in the performance, a Patbot performs instead of Pat, unbeknownst to the audience. Wilf arrives, knowing it to be a robot (after defeating a Patbot with a magnet at the sorting officer earlier), uses a magnet to unmask the Patbot. Then, the real Pat interrupts the performance and gives a speech on what's really important and how he forgot to take time for those he really cares about. As Carbunkle releases the first few Patbots to kill off Pat, Simon and Brown, revealing that he has had enough of them hindering his plans, Josh saves them by using Carbunkle's phone to turn off all the Patbots before they can kill Pat, Cowbell and Brown. Little does Pat suspect that his wife and friends from Greendale will arrive in the chaos.

Roberts, Katie (16 April 2012). "Postman Pat The Movie to hit screens in 2013". Toy News . Retrieved 19 August 2015. It was originally hoped that Kate Winslet would play Sara Clifton, but the role was given to Susan Duerden instead. The doorman and the Postman Pat fans outside the studio at the "You're the One" finals should have recognised the real Postman Pat when they saw him. It's at this point things start to get a little weird. Perhaps fearing that the modern tot can't be doing without a goodly dose of threat and peril, the fake Pat is pretty creepy: fixed toothy grin, glowing red eyes, hammering goosestep gait. In 2013, the story in Postman Pat Live from Premier Stage Productions was almost the same as this film.
