The variants in the RGBWW LED strip to involve introducing a different colour temperature of white LED light. With the additional white diode, you may think an RGB + W strip has a more complicated installation process than an RGB strip light. However, that’s not the case. The additional white LED colour does not make it more complex than an RGB strip. It’s practically the same process but with an extra wire for the white light. Just remember to get the correct controller and driver to ensure everything goes smoothly. Generally speaking, RGBW LED light is better than RGB. What is RGBW LED light
Though RGBWW LED strips are able to access to a larger range of colours the best choice is really down to the installation. If the project only requires standard RGB colours with no need for pure warm white, RGB LED Strips are often more cost-effective. However, should the installation require a high-quality warm white then RGBWW is the better choice. When the RGB color mode is active, the white leds are turned off, and when the WHITE color mode is active, the RGB leds are turned off. Switching between these modes can be done from the Home Assistant interface, or by using Integer between 0 and 255 for how bright the light should be, where 0 means the light is off, 1 is the minimum brightness and 255 is the maximum brightness supported by the light. String with the name of one of the built-in profiles (relax, energize, concentrate, reading) or one of the custom profiles defined in light_profiles.csv in the current working directory. Light profiles define an xy color, brightness and a transition value (if no transition is desired, set to 0 or leave out the column entirely). In contrast, RGBW LED light produces the same brightness with less LED quantity requirement. Therefore, RGBW LED light is of less energy consumption compared to RGB in the same brightness. Less energy consumption means lower energy cost and save more electricity. Higher lighting efficiency RGB LEDs can produce white light by mixing the primary red, green and blue lights together in theory. But the mixture includes blending and diffusion of colors, creating factitious white light. This kind of white light seems to be covered with fog. The hazy light will cause discomfort visual experience to people. In contrast, RGBW LEDs are able to produce cleaner white light and lower saturate colorful light, providing comfortable visual experiences to our eyes.
