About this deal

In summary, 2021 is a very good vintage for the Saucony Triumph, with a new version rich in improvements. We see little reason to pass upon it, especially if you’re looking for a comfortable premium shoe for your long runs. One gripe, there’s a bit of heel slip thanks to the extremely stiff heel counter. I just don’t love stiff heel counters, but it’s amply padded and although there was some movement it didn’t cause any hot spots or adverse rubbing. Cadillac of running shoes

Elastic laces are a great addition: hold is not compromised but it provides the right amount of give on a longer run. And you even got two pairs of different colors to choose from! Jeremy/ReneeThe reviewers who tried the T19 are unanimous on the subject: there’s nothing to complain about this simple and effective outsole. The grip is excellent on its favorite playground, the asphalt, and even wet pavement after a good heavy rain. It also works very well on dry trails or gravel roads.

I didn’t love the slightly stretchy laces, and there’s a small tab that holds the bottom lace that gets in the way of the normal location of my Stryd pod. Those are literally the biggest gripes I can find-Jeff The fit is unchanged from last year, the toe box is still really good for a standard shaped shoe (as in, not Altra or Topo), and the tongue is still really plush. Renee: The outsole is enough to provide durability and some traction off pavement without being obstructive on pavement. Although it won’t provide a trail-shoe-like grip on gravel, it does run very well on gravel roads.Renee is a former U. S. Marine journalist, which is when her enjoyment of running and writing started. She isn’t that awesome of a runner, but she tries really hard. Most of her weekly 50-60 miles take place on rural country roads in Nebraska, meaning mud, gravel, dirt, hills, and the occasional field. She has PR’s of 1:30:59 for the half marathon and 3:26:45 for the marathon The RW Takeaway: The Triumph 19 is a mileage base builder, post-marathon recovery shoe, and workhorse trainer. Yes, Saucony’s softest shoe is also its most versatile. For marathoners around 3h-3h30 who want to preserve their legs but still get a responsive run, without going carbon-plated (and some people still don’t like them due to the rigidity of the midsole) I think the Triumph is a safe bet.

Saucony Triumph 19 Review Analysis (2021): Should You Get It? Saucony Triumph 19 Review Analysis (2021): Should You Get It?

So far I can’t tell much how different from its prédecessor it is, but I can tell that the Triumph 19 proved me a bit wrong in thinking it was a “limo for cool days and not much” kind of shoe. I should have listened a bit more to a friend of mine that had an excellent experience with the previous iterations! While the weight difference favors the Velocity, the T19 run is also far smoother. Price-wise it’s difficult to beat the Velocity, as it will be as durable as the Triumph. If a more..peppy, firm ride is your thing, and breathability(i.e autumn and winter runs is less important, the Velocity can be a good choice. KYLE: The Saucony Triumph 19 delivers on the cushioning and has style for days. This would be my easy day/recovery run shoe. While not my first choice for tempo days or workouts, this shoe certainly has a place in your rotation.

Many fans of the Triumph 18 may have noticed that the platform of the Triumph is nearly identical. The T19 midsole has a generous amount of PWRRUN+ foam that is capped off with, to the best of my knowledge, a thin layer of Everun. Despite the trend in running shoes to completely scrap a shoe after each iteration to try something new Saucony has leaned into the if it ain’t broke… approach. ADRIENNE: The Saucony Triumph is a premium trainer that’s been around for quite a while now with its 19 th iteration. This is a shoe that I feel like has been ignored in the past, but should not be this go around.

Although designed for all kinds of paces (from recovery runs to uptempo sessions), the majority of testers consider it more suitable for daily training and long runsthan for speed workouts. The XT-900 carbon rubber has proven to be very effective on the Triumph 18, as well as on the majority of the brand’s road shoes. It was therefore logically renewed identically on the Triumph 19. Although it’s technically a heavy shoe, on par with other luxe trainers like the Brooks Glycerin 19 and Altra Paradigm 6, the Triumph rides light and bouncy. Giving it that energetic sensation is a Pwrrun+ midsole and top sole, introduced in the shoe’s 17th version. Pwrrun+ foam is 28 percent lighter than the Saucony’s original Pwrrun; it’s supportive for easy long runs, and responsive during tempo runs and workouts. “The Triumph 19 feels like running on big, spongy paws,” raved one tester who typically runs in Asics Gel-Kayanos. “Like a Kayano, they’re somewhat stiff and solid, but also nicely soft.” Performance: B+ (Best at daily paces and easy paces, not much versatility, midsole is comfortable and durable during efforts) Jeff: Another brand’s long running big cushion daily trainer, the Nimbus has a firmer ride, more narrow toebox, is an ounce heavier, and doesn’t have the same confidence in cushioning as the Triumph. On its own, the Nimbus is a very solid daily trainer, but in an A/B comparison to the Triumph, it’s hard not to see the value the Saucony gives you for the same cost.

Saucony Triumph 19 First Impressions

Overall: A- ( A great option for runners looking for a neutral, cushioned shoe for easy days, but not great for faster speeds) The “grid pattern” is rigid to ensure a secude heel hold, and the vertical stripe brings heaps of reflectivity for night runners. It’s very soft and supple and I really cannot fault it: it has, in my opinion, just the right amount of material for a long distance trainer, on a part of the shoe that requires not much hold. The weight saving here must be substantial, versus the Puma Velocity for instance, where the inner sleeve doubles the outer mesh from mid to forefoot, and was unnecessary. The Triumph has a much better implementation of a light monomesh upper.
