About this deal

Compared to the AYA NEO NEXT ADVANCE, it initially performs faster at the same TDP but by 35W, it drops behind a little. You can drop the graphics settings lower, or increase the TDP to say 25W to keep the frame rate closer to 60.

Ultimately though, both models are delivering much improved portability over the Deck and there's higher levels of compatibility thanks to the Windows 11 OS. Out of the box, three power levels are supported: 5W for battery conservation, an 8W 'balanced' mode and a 12W gaming mode, meant for modern titles. Please NoteIn line with the policy of continued development, the manufacturer reserves the right to amend the specifications without prior notification. The AYA NEO scores 4,861 with good scores across the tests, but not higher than the i7 based handhelds. This title also highlights the hard performance limits of the Vega architecture: it's a struggle to play this locked to 30fps, while Steam Deck can do it all day, with only minimal stutter in the web-swinging sections where AyaNeo Air obviously has issues. Death Stranding continues the trend of the Ryzen 5 outperforming the Ryzen 7 at 8W, but the point is moot really because the game runs like a slideshow. I'd definitely be looking at these results using the 'percentage differential' mode rather than the frame-rate mode though, because as stated, frame-rates in effects-heavy combat are lower. For instance, we have seen from previous benchmarks that the percentages vary due to whether or not they take into account the extra number of cores and threads. It’s above average for similar CPU and GPU configurations and can go higher with some TDP increases.

The NVMe SSD – while nothing new to the world of windows gaming handhelds– is still a welcome addition as well, as this boosts the load times across the device in general. If you have the original Aya Neo Founders Edition, then the Next Pro is definitely worth considering upgrading to.I like the AYA NEO a lot, it feels very comfortable to handle and play games on, And it is not too heavy when holding it unaided, for example resting on your lap or table. Tunic is a fairly low demanding game, we are running at 11W at 1280×800 resolution with all the graphics set to their highest levels. Both benchmarks offer a readout at the end that highlight the performance level of the CPU in processing game logic and render logic, the game simulation and the time taken to prepare commands for the GPU. The AYA NEO scores 4,451 with around average scores on the tests and an above average on the storage speed.
