Given Warner Archive's transfer for Mask of the Phantasm, my expectations were pretty high for this release, but also realistic considering the number of episodes. Detail levels are incredibly crisp to the point you can actually spot fine lines in the characters that I hadn't seen before. Top-Secret Case Files of the Dark Knight's Many Foes: Introduction, Clayface, Harley Quinn, The Joker, Mr. Enticing visuals, engaging action, and electric characters mean little for an animated series if they are not voiced with enthusiasm and energy. Everytime I deal with this kind of packaging, the discs are scratched immediately after I open the package for the first time.With the debut of Blu-ray in 2007, I began to lobby anyone who would listen at WHV to release this series in HD on the format. And even though some episodes of this show are more stand-alone than others, a serialized concept took over where continuity became a key factor in storylines. Sure digital copies would have been nice like the Batman 66 box set, but I am just happy having this amazing series on bluray at long last.

Arkham Asylum: Examine the Top-Secret Case Files of the Dark Knight's Many Foes: The Riddler (Featurette) – This file discusses The Riddler and how creators differentiated him from the Batman '66 Riddler with: Bruce Timm, Alan Burnett, Andrea Romano, Eric Radomski and Dan Riba. With a different take on these characters, this version of Batman is more agile, acrobatic, and fierce, making each fight sequence more impressive than just the standard punches and kicks that everyone is used to. Extensive color correction was done, along with dirt and scratch clean up, as well as a light a grain reduction pass to create a pristine picture (while making sure not to affect the original lines in the artwork of the animation cels). The WB home video division will use the same 1080p masters, but there's no guarantee they'll include identical discs.

Whatever differences the show made, it sure struck a chord with its fans and professionals alike, since the series is still talked about today and won numerous awards for its achievements in animation, voice work, and more.
