They were scanned at 4K with final grading performed in HD… they look immaculate and will probably be the source of any new Blu-ray box set. For copyright purposes, he’s not officially “Columbo” here, but the character is there in (Italian) spirit, with a dog and talking about his wife. It would be a major coup for Kino-Lorber to obtain the rights for disseminating it to a wide audience, but it certainly would goose the Blu-Ray sales to the Columbo-hardcore.

Previously only a highly expensive Japanese import box set has been available on Blu-ray, which I actually owned for a bit. Peter Falk, I couldn’t help but drink up all the info here and started keeping track of all the repeat contributors. Some of those stars may be in poor physical or cognitive health, may not want people to see what they look like now, or may not consider their appearance on Columbo to be a particularly important part of their careers. Despite the inconsistencies, from episode to episode, and decoupling with reality on various occasions, Columbo is always entertaining!

I have reviewed the various comments and watched all of the episodes many times and sometimes while listening to episodes as described on the Columbophile Blog. When Columbo gets released on bluray on home dvd, will it be released in the same format as when this show originally aired on NBC and ABC?

The classic episodes are set to be released in late summer, with the ‘new Columbo‘ set following in late 2023 or early 2024.Having watched every Columbo at least half a dozen times, I’d love as many commentary tracks as possible. The thing I’ve been hoping for is that it’ll include the Chevy Mystery Hour episode with Bert Freed (and I’ve been reply-guying Kino-Lorber about it just to get it on their radar). I’m old enough to have watched “McMillan and Wife” and “McCloud” back in the day, but for some reason I have zero recollection of ever watching Columbo either in first run, or at any time in the past.
