About this deal

You are going to want to find out much more about her, such that you will want to begin reading the second book in the series. Once she was briefed about the case, Paula begins to remember another case, which was much similar to this one. The best character in this and by far the most likeable was Janna, the convicted killer of three murders decades ago. I also stumbled over the plot pretty quickly as I could just not accept the concept of a woman willing to spend her life savings on a house she hasn't even seen pictures of. After a degree in English and French from Oxford University she moved to London and worked in the charity sector.

She is now also writing romance as Eva Woods, and The Thirty List was published in 2015 and The Ex Factor in 2016. She grew up in a village where the most exciting thing that ever happened was a herd of cows getting loose in the road. Helen and George are both full of secrets they are keeping from each other and as you can imagine, things get interesting as more and more is revealed. Because Paula understands that this is a small town, she believes the case that happened two years ago and the current one are completely unrelated.I picked Let Me In by Claire McGowan up on a whim after seeing it in the library, not realizing I read and loved What You Did back in October 2021. I felt a sense of betrayal, like the author has made an unspoken promise to me that isn’t fulfilled. I didn't enjoy the format - there were only five chapters and for me this slowed the pace and made the book feel too long.

The eBook and audiobook are both currently available on Kindle Unlimited and I highly recommend Let Me In if you are in the mood for something twisty, mysterious, and atmospheric.

The protagonist, Helen, is a doctor but also a complete nitwit about everything, including basic health info. It is evidently clear that Paula is a troubled character, and from the look of things, something tragic happened in her past, something that she is struggling to forget about. I even stayed up until the early hours of the morning, despite having to get up early for work the next day. Upon arrival, Paula’s first job is to locate the missing 15-year-old girl, who happens to be the daughter of a real estate developer and a council member. The recent scandal of the Catholic Church and the IRA, form the basis of the investigation that the new team is overseeing.

I’m certain, with all her bajillion books, this author has heard that it’s preferable to show than to tell. The story is told from the perspective of each couple, detailing their move from the city to a remote island.Claire McGowan is a well-established author who penned her first book in her native, Rostrevor when she was only nine years old. According to McGowan, her first novel, The Fall was completely a surprise to her because when penning it down, she completely had no idea that she was working on a crime fiction novel. Her short story ‘Archaeology’ was broadcast on Radio 4 in 2015 and her story ‘Rosie Grant’s Finger’ appeared in the anthology Belfast Noir, as well as ‘The Last Resort’ in the CWA anthology Deadly Pleasures. Aiden’s father who was the editor and the owner of the newspaper was murdered because the IRA were not happy with the stories that he wrote. For Helen and George, the remote fixer-upper in Cornwall was supposed to be a dream home, and a way to leave behind the problems they’re both running from.

Filled with twists and turns at every corner, the amount of suspense kept me on edge the entire time ! Anyways, we find out that Georgey boi has somehow blown through over 200k AND racked up serious debt trying to get back into journalism. THE FALL is her first novel, which is followed by a series starring forensic psychologist Paula Maguire. But the ending did seem very rushed and I had to reread many parts to see if I just read that right.
