About this deal

Also, the idea of shooting for a long time without running out of ammo is quite exquisite and an enjoyable experience.

A couple of sling points are provided at the back, which means you’ll have to carry the Artemis barrel-down if you want to stick a shoulder strap on it. The Rival rails look like a standard ‘Picatinny’ rail, as used on real firearms, but they’re actually a different size. This is not too bad, but once in awhile, I found myself dry-fire and then have two rounds pop out a prime or two later. The Artemis XVII-3000 uses a rotation mechanism to turn the turret; there is a cam track surrounding the revolving turret which gets indexed by a slide. One problem with the slam fire is caused by a relatively common problem with locks on NERF blasters. Sadly the official NERF Rival accessories lineup currently only consists of a red-dot sight and a combined flashlight and grip. With that in mind, it’s good to know that the NERF Rival Hades will always give you one of the best shooting experiences.

NERF Rival Artemis Review - We Put The XVII-3000 Through Its

Even though the other three barrels have no function, it is interesting to see how the barrels rotate when firing. If you’re right-handed, it’s thumb for safety on, then side of index finger to push it back off from the other side. Firing is the real thrill of the Nerf Rival Battles, although the firing performance always depends on the specification of the NERF blaster. A brilliant all-round blaster that serves as a perfect introduction to NERF’s impressive Rival series. The Rival Artemis comes out of the box completely assembled, and because it’s spring-powered there isn’t even the need to add batteries.

They both had their good points, but only the Apollo (mainly because it is such good value for money) and the Khaos left me with an idea of how good the Rival range could be. There is a priming indicator on the left and right sides of the blaster, and an unjamming button which unlocks the priming grip when the blaster is already primed. Unlike previous blasters, the Nemesis uses a large removable hopper with an agitator that advances the rounds into its flywheels. I have no idea why so few of the Rival range have these, the Apollo would have made an excellent secondary if you could suitable stow it during the game for example.

With this button, you can unlock the handle, which will trigger the ignition if there is a problem with the jam. The Artemis sits right in the middle of NERF’s Rival range, which caters for foam-popping veterans in their teens or later. I am not a big one for adding sights or flashlights, but if this is an issue for you, you may find that this being the only rail is a negative.

Rounds are indexed by a spring-assisted follower that pushes them into a chamber located on top of the blaster. It’s a spring-powered, pump-action blaster with capacity for 30 of the golf-ball-shaped Rival rounds. I was half expecting the Artemis to also fall foul of gimmicks over function with its spinning barrels and fixed magazines, but having used it for a little while I can safely say, I love it!

As a bonus, if you still have rounds in the Ferris wheel mechanism, you can still shoot while loading – three extra rounds to defend yourself is great! The Prometheus MXVIII-20K is a flywheel blaster with a removable hopper that holds up to 240 rounds of ammunition. Today, we have millions of users a month from around the world, and assess more than 1,000 products a year. This does make it difficult to unload the blaster if you don’t want to shoot out all of the ammo, but hey, more excuses to shoot stuff are always good! Luckily NERF have decided to add them to this blaster, which means you can easily sling this blaster and it is perfectly balanced for one-point sling or you can use a 2-point sling if you prefer it slung level. There’s no worrying about eating through expensive batteries and fumbling with fiddly magazine systems like there is with the Rival Khaos and Rival Zeus, yet it’s almost as compact as the Rival Apollo and Rival Atlas, and has better ammo capacity than both.
