About this deal

Note that enabling MPE for the input port means that all MIDI channels are in use, so it's not possible to set a track to discretely respond to one MIDI channel. As with those instruments it uses a system of chain-able 16-step patterns, which appears pretty simplistic at first glance but proves to be much deeper once you start digging into the features and capabilities.

The new arpeggiator probability feature brings an element of randomness to each arpeggiator, turning SL MkIII into a generative and constantly evolving instrument. Templates from the unit can be retrieved from the list of all 64 Templates or pulled directly from one of the Templates currently being used in one of the 8 Parts.First is Session: you could use a Session for a whole song, but I like to use them as multiple Scenes. The pre-mapped Templates also make it effortless to take control of analog synths and hardware devices, and all this combined power makes the MK3 a no-brainer. A lot has changed since then though; for all its flexibility, the server-based Automap setup now looks exceptionally cumbersome compared to the plug-and-play compatibility offered by systems like NI’s NKS or Akai’s Advance range, and with the rise of Bluetooth MIDI and resurgence of CV, many musicians find that they need more from their controllers than simple USB and MIDI. Choose an arp type, set a sync rate, tweak note and pattern lengths, and design your rhythms in real time — with the 61SL MkIII, you can do it all.

Along the rear, the SL MkIII has a power switch and input for its external power adapter, which is required at all times as there’s no USB power option. The full colour LCD screens give you full visibility of your parameters, while the pads, buttons, eight faders and eight knobs get you hands-on with your music - and in any major music software, using InControl. Step sequencing within Patterns is fine, and you can switch directly to different tracks with the Part buttons. The keyboard can also be divided into Zones, which can each be assigned to one of the eight Parts, so users can play multiple instruments at once - handy for use as a live performance hub. Beyond the sequencer, the SL MkIII also features an Arpeggiator, with adjustable rate, gate length and direction.Unpacking the SL MkIII, I couldn’t help but note some contemporary influences, starting with an Elektron‑style braided USB cable.

Computer workflows are not forgotten: the template system could also work with some virtual instruments and the integrations with the most popular DAWs are effective. from Bethlehem, GA on February 20, 2022 Rated 5/5 61SL MkIII is feature packed, functional and fantastic!Line 6 EX1 - Although sold as an expression pedal, it isn't wired as an expression pedal (mono jack rather than TRS jack).
