My 10 year old daughter is not a massive reader at all but when she read the first book of Peanut Jones, she could not put it down and was completely engrossed in it.

Parents are not usually the focus of books for children – they’re not the ones having the adventures, after all! However, there’s more for Peanut, Little Bit and Rockwell, for it seems the Resistance is growing in Chroma. Famous paintings all over the world have been disappearing by disintegrating, just like drawn objects do when they are in the real world and not Chroma.

Wie im ersten Teil merkt man auch wieder das hohe Maß an Kreativität, was in die Geschichte eingeflossen ist. The second book sees us reunited with Peanut and her school friend, Rockwell and Peanut’s younger sister, Little Bit.

The first book in Rob Biddulph’s breathtaking new trilogy, and his first aimed at slightly older readers, heaves with imaginative ideas and brilliantly original characters (the useless superhero Table Guy, whose sole power is making tables fly, is sure to be a firm favourite). Die Idee, dass die Zeit in Chroma schneller verläuft, trägt natürlich dazu bei, dass die Situation viel prekärer ist als am Ende des ersten Teils. This book was fiction and my favourite character was mr and mrs m because they didn't want mr white to do his plan so went out of their way to stop him. Once again, they meet with the Markmakers and other members of the resistance to try and foil whatever Mr White’s master plan is. Besonders die Verfolgungsjagd durch Paris und New York wurden dabei wunderbar bebildert und fangen die Spannung sowie den Charme der Städte gut ein. This experience has been fantastic primarily for the children, the school and also for me (professionally). Schnell wird klar, dass hier auf jeden Fall eine größere Portion Action mit dabei ist, denn das Trio – Peanut, Rockwell und Little-Bit – starten nach einer ganz kurzen Einführung direkt wieder ins Abenteuer.I loved the illustrations, the wit, the characterisation and satisfying twists and turns in the plot.

After all, at the conclusion of their first visit to Chroma, Peanut’s aware of a startling fact about Mr White and is identity. White und so langsam beschleicht sie das Gefühl, dass das mysteriöse Verschwinden unbezahlbarer Kunstwerke aus allen möglichen Museen (sie zerfallen einfach zu Staub) auf dessen Kappe geht.I love lots about this series, but my big issue with it is that the girls are just so mean to Rockwell. Peanut Jones is a brilliantly written character with her sidekicks it feels like there is no mountain she can't climb or mystery she can't solve. So when the sequel popped up on NetGalley we were desperate to see if it lived up to her expectations - and it did! Ein kleiner Cliffhanger findet sich auch diesmal am Ende, sodass wir kaum erwarten können weiterzulesen. The language seemed more complex in this book, so maybe for a slightly older audience than it first appears.
