About this deal

Under shrink wrap on front is square insert: "Pink Floyd The Dark Side Of The Moon 30th Anniversary Edition Vinyl original packaging including stickers and posters heavyweight virgin vinyl plus new 30th anniversary poster". I know people use a ton of buzz words to describe just how amazing a pressing can sound, but I will save everyone the cliche's and just say this.

The mix doesn't sound very different from the 2016 press, but the record itself is very high quality. The overall tonality sounds a bit more raw and brighter than the stereo pressings I’ve heard, particularly the 30th and 2016. The right front opening of the gate-fold cover is sealed with a fold over flap that is glued inside the opening. The majority of issues come with two posters but the originals have distinct characteristics, the “Pyramid poster” can be matte or glossy but has no serial number printed on the bottom left corner. I feel so strongly about this record that I have considered storing it in a fireproof safe so I don't risk losing it.All I'll say is I wouldn't pay anywhere near what's being asked for a copy of this - just get a nice clean 70s press. After enjoying this 2016 cut for several years and, in the spirit of finding the “iconic” analogue cuts, I bought NM copies of MoFi’s 1979 and Kevin Gray’s 2003 pressings. Ill try to give the other releases a head to head again sometime but right now I dont want to spoil the album too much. These copies were produced for a short time only, between first pressing and first repress, featuring earliest use of the new black Harvest "blue outline prism" label design. However, there are several versions with significant differences in packaging and design, such as this version: The Dark Side Of The Moon from the Philippines which has the artist's name and LP title printed in large text on a non-gatefold sleeve.

I have pioneer PL-570 walnut, mac-1900, and ortofon black, my quest for a better copy is done, this thing is great, now I need a LZ II RL SS! I have the 2016 reissue, the 40th anniversary, and several original US pressings in great condition.

This is very important as some copies have the sleeve switched if the original sleeve is in poor condition.

It may not be the true Alan Parsons discrete mix of the album, but I honestly prefer how this one sounds over the original stereo mix, even on a two channel setup. This can be extended to more areas as a general rule where the original is not as in the room and realistic. The plus for the 2016 cut then is present in certain areas where its EQ has better effect, such as the clocks on Time.
