It is revealed that Nightshade is on the other side of the world, and the Teachers are studying Alex. As the guards breach the house, Alex and Frederick use the remnants of the chair as a launch sled, riding it down the slope of the villa’s roof, over the wall and into freedom. Alex's athletic talents greatly assist him during his missions many times: for example, in Point Blanc he snowboards down a mountain on an ironing board to escape Point Blanc Academy, in Skeleton Key he scuba dives into Skeleton Key, in Scorpia he base jumps into a factory, in Ark Angel he walks between two apartment buildings on a tightrope and in Snakehead, he kayaks down a river on a makeshift kayak. When Alex Rider foiled Sayle's plans, Yassen then shot the villian; he claimed Sayle was an embarrassment to their group and was told to kill the villain.
