The only thing I can think is that Skyward Sword reveals certain mysterious plot points on other games, but I don't really see a problem starting with it either. The Legend of Zelda was a gameplay and technical marvel when it came out, helping it become a full-fledged series, unlike so many of the 700+ NES games out which shot their shot and then fell into obscurity.

I gave them the option of going for either Ocarina of Time if they want the basis of the whole franchise, or Breath of the Wild if they wanted a completely different, modern take on the franchise.are going to build upon what we know from Breath of the Wild and also somehow surpass our skyward expectations, all this hubbub will no doubt be attracting the attention of players who have never before grabbed the Master Sword and given Ganon a sound thrashing.

If I’m recommending a first Zelda to an experienced gamer, I’d say Ocarina of Time or A Link to the Past. If they're new Switch owners, it would make sense to show them Ocarina and Skyward Sword, then they just pick whatever appeals to them. From a design perspective I'd give it to LttP, it was my first Zelda game and it converted me to the series for the sheer amount of things to do, see and explore for a 2d game of that time.If you want the quintessential Zelda in it's blueprint, 2D form, I recommend starting with ALttP-- It's everything the original Zelda couldn't be and is very playable even today. The possibility of being able to play a select variety of NES and SNES games is a neat feature available to those subscribed to Online and includes both Zelda titles on the NES. Link's Awakening is also a great shout as being a simpler yet just as gripping take on 2D Zelda but LttP would be my shout any day of the week.

If any of Nintendo's first-party mascots is as well-known as its mustachioed plumber, it's the noble sword-and-shield adventurer Link. All users should read the Health and Safety Information available in the system settings before using this software. Either way, I'd argue that no other Zelda has this amount of surface-level charm; perfect for landing bites in a blue ocean of new fans. The infamous rushed ending doesn't get fixed, but it feels a bit less broken and all in all that HD version is really good.

People new to zelda should start out with botw because they can wander around and do things on their own but old titles force you to do stuff and put you on a set path and its not as easy to get the hang of. That way, when TotK comes out, they’ll have played the most recent entry and will have a better idea of what to expect than they would if coming from LttP or OoT (as amazing as those games are). In addition to full games available on Nintendo Switch, a few classic Zelda adventures are available through the Switch Online service.Although it's got too much bloom lighting for my taste, I'm not opposed to the tightened HD version, although it's probably easier to track down a secondhand Wii and a GameCube disc than it is to pick up a Wii U these days.
