About this deal

Soon, all her tadsiblings outgrow the nest and swim to other parts of the pond, leaving poor Tad by her lonesome. It cannot include your user id, and must contain one character from three of the following groups: Upper case letter (A-Z), Lower case letter (a-z), Number (0-9), Special characters like ! A lovely read that I think younger readers would be able to get fully invested in as they root for Tad’s growth and survival. From the dark depths of the pond, to the bright colours of the flowers above the surface, we get to see Tad’s whole world; as though we’re getting an insight into something we wouldn’t normally see.

Even the tagline "Sometimes the biggest stories have the smallest beginnings" is the best and really pulls you into the story. I can't wait to use this book in a preschool storytime about frogs and to talk about how to handle our fears. I'm in love with all of Benji Davies' picture books, but Tad has immediately jumped to the top of my all time favourites! There are also some lovely Science links with nature, lifecycles, habitats and growth as well as the PSHE focus on how we are all unique and different.

Instead it’s a book full of belonging, patience and acceptance with elements of childhood naivety and innocence that are incorporated subtly but are still noticeable. Night Mayor Franklefink has vanished from the Transylvanian Express - and it's up to you to solve the case! Big Blub is the archetypal Bogeyman, waiting until everyone is asleep before coming up from the depths of the muddy pond floor to gobble them all up! Beautifully and boldly illustrated throughout, Davies has mastered another tale about growing up, embracing change and taking chances!

It's set in a pond where Tad is worried about the Big Blub that lurks at the bottom in the dark waters.Eventually the tadpoles get gobbled up except the little tadpole because of her brilliant hiding places. But as Tad’s tadbrothers and tadsisters seem to be disappearing is Big Blub finally going to catch up with Tad and can Tad finally lose her tail? As is the case with many younger siblings, she longs to be like them and struggles to keep up with their speed and strength.

We’re launching this service at a time when online services are becoming even more vital to help people get back on the road. My town library is currently displaying this book as part of The StoryWalk® Project at our local park, so I had the chance to read it recently while on a walk. Tad is small, the story begins small but it packs a punch with a beautifully illustrated, uplifting, warm ending that will leave a smile on your face long after you finish reading it. It is probably most suitable for reception and KS1, however I think it could still be enjoyed by year 3 and 4 pupils. The smallest almost-a-frog she has to wiggle her tail twice as fast just to keep up, and they all know that Big Blub waits at the bottom of the pond for left-behind tadpoles.Tad lives with her brothers and sisters in the water, where they fear the big fish, Big Blub, who wants to eat them.
