About this deal

Being a tinted clear paint you can easily get one area with a heavier coat of paint than another area and the results may not be what you're after. Use light mist coats to build up the depth of candy you want then clearcoat it after it's dried a few days. I use clear paints CONSTANTLY, they are excellent to give you sweet metallic colors when put overtop of gunmetal/mithril/whatever and lets you do detail work or freehand that looks crazy when the crisscross of under/overcoat shine through. Expect to use three or four coats and clean your brush between panels, painting a whole panel before moving on. After all these to and fo, I cannot believe I completely forgot this: YES, YOU CAN IN FACT BRUSH PAINT PS PAINTS!

Also, I have tried putting some in Future to tint canopies but not too successful from a constant density perspective. If you are of a mind to try it, Tamiya lacquer thinner will deliver even better results than X-20A, as it extends the drying time a little more and gives the paint more time to level. when it comes to "clear coloured" paints, I have the usual jars of the Tamiya clear paints like X-23 clear red, X-27 clear blue etc. Due to its chemical composition, the use of such brushes will not lead to faster wear of their bristles. I avoid most Tamiya paints (alcohol based, nasty brush strokes, meant for airbrushing) but their clear red is awesome. The Tamiya stuff needs a lot more thinning than other airbrush paint and being alchohol based needs it's own thinner. For better paint brushing results use Tamiya Paint Retarder (87114) for a smoother brushstroke free finish. Only thing doing this is you have to then leave if a while to harden back up again depending on how heavey you went back over with the thinners.

I use them the most for OSL lighting, since I can OSL shade the base colors, use the transparents to maintain the shading but color it, and then put the OSL light source on top. Hi just tagged onto this old thread but have restarted airbrushing and have been experimenting the last week or so with Xtracrylix paints, looking for some advice on Tamiya gloss varnish. But I never seem to be able to thin it well with the Tamiya thinner X-20 and paint bigger areas like a canopy without uneven results. The chemical substance in question is characterized by a wide range of possible diluents: from water, through high-percentage alcohols, to special liquids dedicated for this purpose. Normally the final coat consists of 4 - 7 layers and I let it cure for 3 - 4 days at least, to be on the safe side before I hit it with MM.

Solve the paint a little bit (mostly to retard drying) and then use a brush that is at least as thick as the area you want to paint. I'm trying to decide which paint scheme is going to work best for painting the Burning of Prospero Thousand Sons force. One body, the Sierra, has no light buckets, and I wont be using any lights, I just don't like the look of the decals that came with the body.Has anyone had any experience using them in this fashion, or should I attempt using the PS variants (37, 43, 42) - which will require more masking - instead? I think being a bit brighter will probably be a good thing, I really like the bright candy red look that FW have achieved.
