RIP my untarnished memories of the original series, because this bloated 500-page mess crapped all over it. that being said, i've seen a number of reviews say that this read like fan fiction, and i honestly kind of agree. If you’re asking me if it had any value beyond that, I would say that it was an opportunity to right some wrongs.
