I like that Auburn is a sweet, gentle and kind-hearted heroine, but I NEEDED her to stand up for herself more and fight for what she wanted and not always give in. I have not much more to say about him except for the fact that I am very happy to see his character written this way. Miles being Tate's brother's best friend and Tate being Miles' therapist, ugh sorry, i meant friends with benefits person and the whole time she was hoping he would change his mind because duh she's falling for him while Miles just implicitly leads her on even though he's clear about his rules and pushes her away the whole damn time because of his past but he won't stop their little arrangement because our mans is horny as fuck.

it just feels like she is monetizing off the weird success it ends with us got on booktok, and it definitely reads like a cash grab as well. Through her novels, Hoover explores deeper themes of grief and loss, forgiveness, the effects of trauma, resilience, and domestic violence.This is a contemporary romance where an abuser stays abusive, continues to be abusive in the tiniest ways and the cycles are broken. In short, ‘It Starts With Us’ is nothing but an extended epilogue that could’ve been a bonus chapter. Probably not one of the most popular quotes,but it touches the essence of this extremely beautiful and heartbreaking story. well, if you've read this then you can probably guess what i didn't remember because HOLY SHIT- the scene at the end.

Books are subjective-- therefore there can be books that I love you hate, and books I hate that you love. But the other half highlighted quotes that made me smile, and the exquisite artwork that was integral to the story.

However, Auburn is one of the most resilient characters I have ever read and she isn’t going down without a fight. Another thing which left me really annoyed was also Trey's existence in the book that felt completely unnecessary and served purely as a plot device for the drama. Auburn had some priorities,and a relationship with Owen could jeopardize everything she fought for all these years. I know people are going to be mad at how often Ryle shows up here but that’s the reality of how abusive situations are, they don’t just die or leave you alone— colleen did a fantastic job at showing how realistic this situation is, at how much of a gaslighter he is. And, like I mentioned, there's an addition to the plot that added in just the perfect measure of heart-warming depth and heart-wrenching angst to the story.
