About this deal

Originally developed for use as a base fertiliser in John Innes composts, and still approved for use in John Innes formulations, Q4 has proved an extremely versatile fertiliser suitable for use on a wide variety of crops.

If you are simply preparing a planting bed, bonemeal, fish emulsion, blood meal, etc (what I said above) is by far the better choice. Organic fertilizers are naturally occurring substances and include biofertilizers, green manure, organic manure and compost. They create an artificial growing environment that is difficult and expensive to maintain, if you don't the plants will suffer.Organic fertilisers, derived from something that was once living release nutrients slowly, but the nutrient content is usually low and can be variable. Often those synthetic fertilizers will cause an unnatural growth spurt (like taking hormones) but will flop over because of undeveloped root system. Synthetic fertilizers kill beneficial microorganisms in the soil that convert dead human and plant remains into nutrient-rich organic matter.

They contain seaweed to stimulate plant growth; seaweed is also reputed to make plants more resistant to stress from lack of water.Vitax Q4 Premium liquid fertilisers have been specially developed to give your plants all the benefits of Vitax Q4 straight away. You will undoubtedly be planting some new shrubs and perennials too; these need the right nutrients in the soil to get them going, so using the best fertiliser at the time of planting is important. If its been very wet, then its likely nitrogen levels at least may well be depleted, so a quick top up in spring with something like Growmore as growth begins helps to redress that. Some plants, such as tomatoes, are greedy feeders and need topping up with nutrients throughout the season. Originally developed for professional growers, Vitax Q4 fertiliser has proved to be an outstanding general purpose fertiliser for use on a whole range of crops, including fruit, vegetables, flowers and roses.

Q4 provides all the nutrients and trace elements essential for vigorous growth, abundant flowering and ripening of fruit. It contains all the plant foods and trace elements essential for vigorous growth, abundant flowering and ripening of fruit. Q4 Fertiliser is perfect for roses either prior to planting out or for established bushes when it can be applied as a top dressing in the spring. I'm going to use Growmore although I assume Vitax Q4 may produce more flowers because of the higher Potash content. Started from scratch fifteen years ago, the garden is naturalistic in style, with an extensive wildflower meadow and informal planting.

An outstanding general purpose fertiliser, supplied in easy to use, pelleted form, Vitax Q4 has been a firm favourite with both amateur and professional gardeners for many years. He has designed and advised on gardens of all sizes and was responsible for the Hillier Gold Medal winning exhibit at the Royal Horticultural Society’s Chelsea Flower for 25 years. In regard to dire warnings about salts and deleterious effects of chemical fertilizers, you may not be aware that, in the USA, there seems to have been an observable, strong and frequent tendency on the part of gardeners/growers to reach for a chemical fertilizer at regular intervals, or as a remedy even if the plant concerned is suffering lack of water or an infestation or infection. After this period it is recommended that Vitafeed fertilisers are applied for supplementary feeding.
