During a game, the heroes gain and keep more experience points which allow them to unlock new abilities. Players can opt for an episodic experience (2-4 hours) that spans multiple scenarios to where they level their characters up as they go. Setting up the game is a pretty straightforward task; you grab your scenario card and then follow the simple guide on the back which presents the layout.

Ghostbusters : The Boardgame is inspired from the original American movie Ghostbusters directed by Ivan Reitman (1984).As a ‘beer and pretzels’ or entry level game for an evening of light entertainment, it’s great, but as a deeper co-op experience, it’s somewhat lacking. That means your success is completely contingent on your ability to control what number you roll on that single 6-sided die.

With some skilled brushwork they should still look great, but the shiny, smooth plastic that they are made from could prove to be somewhat problematic. Combat and enemy movement both feature hefty amounts of luck that the player can’t mitigate very much; there’s no bonuses to accuracy for flanking ghosts or even working together as a team, and a run of bad luck can leave you feeling frustrated as you chase a troublesome foe around the board like an idiot.
