This is a time when, pre-vaccine, people who caught Covid were extremely ill, when NHS staff were exhausted, when other key workers such as supermarket workers and public transport staff daily put themselves at risk and when in general, most people were genuinely terrified.I suppose it’s ironic that I read this on my Kindle, since the emphasis is very much on reading real books - mostly second-hand, previously loved, with the different smells and feelings associated with different styles of book. Now she is happier, healthier, and more careful with her precious life and the precious people and things in it. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

At the very time when people most need books to widen their horizons, or escape from their fears, or enhance their lives, the doors are closed.

It’s the state of mind and heart of the person reading it that will make the book grow into something greater than the words printed in it. At times there is humour although not as much as in the last book which is understandable given the serious nature of the times. By participating in the Kindle App Challenge this first Qtr, I completed 3 books for the month of January.

It could have felt a bit contrived, as so many books are listed and recommended, but somehow it works.

Although she’d never have chosen it, her dance with cancer has changed her life in many positive ways. All in all, I enjoyed the book and look forward to exploring the reading suggestions at the back of the book.
