About this deal

It’s a reminder that we never really get there and it’s about the journey of life not the fantasy of finally getting to that ‘goal’ so as to be happy. Brilliantly written, extremely relatable, honest, full of humour and totally uplifting, Everyone needs to read this (you don’t have to be forty-something) and realise it’s never too late to change what you don’t like in your life and their are tons of women dealing with the same thoughts and feelings. I hate to say it but I think Potter was riding the wave of the success of the first book from her adoring fans but sometimes it’s best to know when to leave well enough alone. I enjoyed the main characters in this book, especially Cricket, Nell's octogenarian best friend, who definitely doesn't act her age and doesnt care what others think!

Finally they can gather at each other's houses with no restrictions, they can go to the pub and enjoy a drink and they can even have weddings again! And when all else fails, will celebrity-scented candles, smashed avocados and Instagram filters save us? I've said it before that I'm not overly fond of books that talk about the pandemic, as I want escapism, I don't want to read about something I lived through.

Whilst sharing the flat with not only Edward and their dog, but also his two teenage sons, a surprise pregnancy test throws Nell's world into a spin. The novel was about Nell Stevens, who after losing her business and fiancé, moves from California back to London. More Confessions of a Forty-Something Fk Up" is a must-read that reminds us that amidst life's curveballs, there's always room for growth, laughter, and a touch of glamour. Now Alexandra Potter, the Bradford-born author behind Confessions of a Forty-Something **** Up is preparing to bring out its sequel.

She explores this outdated idea of achieving life goals by a specific age, and turns it on its head, in part thanks to 80-something Cricket. Catching Up with NellOh I was so excited to see what was happening for Nell after reading Confessions years ago. Amid the laughter, tears, and unexpected turns, the author masterfully tackles deeper themes with sensitivity, giving the characters depth and authenticity.

But whilst the first book was special because of being so relatable when you are in your forties, this one now is a bit more classic chick-lit. When everything goes tits up, do you fall apart or jump on a plane to LA with Cricket (an eighty-something widow and your BFF)? I like that this is a realistic and relatable book with characters that are experiencing the same problems as all the rest of us.If you’re looking for a laugh out loud until you snort and can’t breathe anymore then definitely pick this one up.
