About this deal

Colors take advantage of the greater range, too, becoming darker and less contrasty, which is also an improvement. Again, the blu is the same 2010 blu Anchor Bay released, so it has no extras but the newer commentary. The PC viewable DVD-ROM folder is packed with over a gigabyte of rare Evil Dead trilogy material painstakingly collected over many years, with major contributions by a number of die hard Evil Dead fans. I HAVE THE ORIGINALS THEATRICAL PRINTS VERSIONS OF THE EVIL DEAD (1981), the rest of releases are SHIT ! Life After Death: The Ladies of the Evil Dead (15min) - this featurette tells of how the three ladies in this film decided to get together and learn about horror conventions and how to (make money and) be guest stars signing autographs just as Bruce Campbell has over the past million years.

Although again it is ostensibly a matted widescreen frame, you actually see more on every side as if the entire frame is zoomed out, although this varies marginally from shot to shot.

The Evil Dead as mentioned is now 30 years old but prepare to be shocked and revolted none-the-less. As of 2013, there is still only really one standout Blu-Ray release; the 2011 US Lionsgate Evil Dead II 1. The first is that while 4K has four times the pixel resolution of Blu-Ray, there seems to be no additional detail here over the previous 2010 US Anchor Bay Limited Edition Blu-Ray version.

I also find the beginning excruciatingly slow – it takes almost 40 minutes for anything to really happen. Sam Raimi may well have gone on to make the hugely successful teen-friendly Spiderman series but The Evil Dead is true gory horror at it’s most disgusting finest.Well, the first one turned out to be a nice upgrade, if also a little bit of a compromise (hint: hold onto one of your older special editions). remixes, you are out of luck because like past releases, the original mono soundtrack is nowhere to be found. This collectable pack also features collectible Necronomicon packaging, 16 pages of original drawings and a 23 cm replica prop of the dagger from Evil Dead 2. This was actually the first 'Book Of The Dead' style home release anywhere in the world; in July 19, 2001. As is common with these combo packs, the blu-ray half of the pack is the same old blu-ray from the previous release, in this case Anchor Bay's 2010 blu.
