About this deal

In my opinion, the fragrance is wearable in all seasons, but in summer it is more likely to be worn on colder and rainy days, as I think that otherwise it could unfortunately drift off a bit in a too pressingly sweet direction.

With an intense and hot, powdery bouquet, L’Homme Idéal Eau de Parfum is a deeply sensual blend. Comprising of a number of notes and accords from the Oriental family, it comes across as a Woody Oriental Amber thanks to birch tar and sandalwood. Head NotesMy conclusion: An independent fragrance, which in my opinion stands out very positively from the current "mainstream fragrance assortment" and can be used for many occasions. The fact that Guerlain is currently trying to "cannibalize" the L'Homme Ideal line a bit and is launching Flanker at ever shorter intervals is something I think is a pity, but it can't be considered too "reprehensible" in today's world when companies and fragrance houses are trying to exploit all possible levels for new sales. Guerlain doesn't have to prove anything to anyone anymore, as they have already launched several iconic fragrances in the past. In times when craftsmanship still stood above profit margins and the like. All I know is that our biology students recently cut up a few animals to get to know their anatomy a little better. I can't do anything with mice, rats or birds, but I already have an idea. As a newbie (meanwhile not so new anymore), I try to write a series of comments. This is the ninth part. Guerlain's creations are often said to have a slight "family resemblance" in the form of a common, classic "scent chord". This so-called "Guerlinade" is the "code name" for a mixture of jasmine, iris, tonka bean, bergamot, Bulgarian rose and vanilla. L'Homme Idéal - Eau de Parfum also quotes this tradition. The fragrance starts with an intense almond amaranth, (cherry) fruity note. In contrast to the sometimes tangy-nutty to slightly bitter, here it is quite clearly the sweet side of almond, complemented by the fruity side of bergamot. And in my opinion, a hint of cardamom and possibly also cinnamon is added at the beginning - slightly balsamic. The bergamot probably comes from Calabria, where Guerlain - by the way - has been switching to organic farming for a few years now. According to Thierry Wasser, many people do not know the scent of bergamot from nature, which in his opinion makes it mysterious. This is part of the concept here, "enveloping, seductive and mysterious" is how the fragrance should appear. Interestingly enough, the almond tree belongs to the rose family and almonds are known to be used in the production of marzipan. While rose water is occasionally added to round off the taste - i.e. in the production of marzipan - the (Bulgarian) rose follows here, also in a rounded form. The heart note, however, is determined by vanilla. The incense is added - and it does so in a wonderful and perfectly balanced way - which then slowly merges into the leather. The whole thing is framed in a further rounding off by soft sandalwood and the manel-like tonka. As a result, Thierry Wasser and Delphine Jelk have created two triads in L'Homme Idéal - Eau de Parfum, two three-tone chords: The classic "guerlinade" (enveloping, seductive) of (1) bergamot - (2) rose and vanilla - (3) tonka, and the wooden oriental (seductive, mysterious) of (1) almond and spices - (2) incense - (3) leather and sandalwood. And the "gourmand" of almond, vanilla and tonka combines the two triads into a melodic work of art, entirely in the intention of Thierry Wasser.

All in all this fragrance is really very round, spicy, earthy and sweet. Meanwhile in my Top 5. also the bottle is very beautiful and noble from heavy glass. From my testing Guerlain L’Homme Ideal EDP performance is moderate. It sustains projection out from the skin for the first 2 hours. Then it lasts 7 hours more as an intimate scent bubble and skin scent. Also of the occasion very versatilely applicable. Can be worn well during the day, but especially during winter leisure time and evening / night events. We'd have the top note. A beautiful cherry. Something's missing here, though. What the hell is this? The bottles of this series are great. Beautiful glass, modern and stylish design with beautiful lid. The almond concept is also very well chosen. If the ideal man smells like that, everyone can decide for himself.

Closing Thoughts

I have there the neighbour of my parents, whose cherry tree is placed so beautifully on the property that it is every time simply only tempting to help itself there. So let's do this. The kids from the neighborhood would be to blame anyway. They get his frustration off, not me. Although it’s a discernibly fall and winter fragrance being an oriental scent, it’s surprisingly wearable throughout spring. I’m currently wearing L’Homme Idéal in early May and it’s not too heavy and still very intoxicating. Pros & Cons: Although this is an eau de parfum (whereas the original is an eau de toilette, and as such would be expected to have a slightly lower concentration of aromatic materials), many reviewers have found that it isn't exactly longer-lasting. Don't expect a stronger version of the original but rather a composition that builds upon the sweeter almond/cherry facets - less powder and more liqueur. A number of reviewers have also noticed an orange/mandarin note prominent in the opening.

I really love the Guerlain brand, and the Ideal line is a very consistent range of solid scents that have good performance and gather compliments easily. 'L'Homme Ideal' EDP is one of my favorites, and for good reasons. The initial blast is a sweet, seductive vanilla and almond accord with a hint of what seems to be cherry or raspberry. Its very sensual, deep, high quality stuff that cuts through the air and hits the nose effortlessly. I treated myself to this good stuff after I smelled it at the Douglas At Douglas I didn't recognize the scent on the test strip, but after smelling it on my skin, I immediately recognized who this scent resembles, namely Insurrection Pure Wild 2, only this scent here is much more natural and round, but also much spicier in the heart note. In the beginning I smell a Cherry Coke, not too sweet, but the dark cherry is definitely noticeable. In the heart note, the fragrance changes and becomes almond-like, but also smoky, through the incense. In addition, something very earthy opens up, I think it is the rose. But it is a very dark and noble rose. More and more the vanilla comes to the fore, which combines with the almond and the cherry. The fragrance is a safe choice for cool to crisply cold temperatures. He keeps what the fragrance pyramid promises: almonds, tonka, vanilla with noble spices and leather and a little rose. Great and stylish. Despite a concentrated load of sweetness, it does not come across too feminine and the spice-leather-pink blend also enhances this fragrance and keeps it extremely elegant. The vanilla, almond and tonka combination comes across nicely gourmandig and has a slightly cherryy touch, which I like extremely well. Also the cinnamon-like spices fit here well into the rather winter ambience. In spite of the strong gourmand notes, it would also go well with a noble and elegant outfit. This is also a fragrance that does not develop extremely visibly. The basic DNA is always retained, but becomes softer and more cuddly after a few hours, whereby the creamy, gentle Tonka note also comes through. All in all a thoroughly pleasant crowdpleaser for cooler temperatures. Even if it is suitable for unisex, I find it rather masculine. Especially the spice-leather mixture makes it very wearable for men. Also versatile in terms of age. In my opinion he has many classic accents which meet modern gourmand notes. Actually, but worn by everyone with preference for this type of fragrance. With seamless transitional notes between each phase, L’Homme Idéal is an immersive fragrance. You don’t feel the jumps between head, heart and base but instead experience a change of scenery that takes a number of minutes to establish itself.

Meanwhile, although older women above their mid-thirties found it slightly too contemporary, it was still enjoyed by some in their late forties and early fifties too. L'Homme Idéal. The fragrance for the "ideal" man. But how is "ideal" defined or does not everyone have a different idea of "ideal"? So can one fragrance fit all ideas of "ideal", the "ideal" universal tool? If Guerlain has his way, the ideal man of today is wrapped in a sweet-rosy scent cloud. Masculine? No. But still very wearable, if you like this kind of scent. It doesn’t have the type of scent profile you’d expect to be versatile. I mean, it contains cherry and leather after all. On top of that, the text overlays the Be and You, which would actually make a fitting mascot for Bespoke Unit! Reminds me of: Dr. Pepper or Cheerwine soda pop; a subtler less powdery version of Rahat Loukhoum fragrances such as those by Serge Lutens and Keiko Mecheri; cherry pipe tobacco.

In Guerlain's L'Homme Ideal range, the eau de parfum is certainly the fragrance for the cooler months and evenings, perhaps (with its classical DNA) for evenings with classical music. In my series, it's most likely to join Colonia Ambra (see "A dozen roses for men - 4/12"). The rose is also here accompanying and rounding off. Seldom have I experienced the development of a perfume from the top to the base note so finely and yet so clearly. However, for my taste - especially for an eau de parfum - the fragrance could be a bit stronger in the haltbarket and sillage. In any case, L'Homme Ideal - Eau de Parfum is "enveloping, seductive and mysterious" and 100% a wonderful gourmand.

What Do People Think Of Guerlain L’Homme Idéal?

Finally, the amber heart draws towards some sweet and mouthwatering tonka bean paired with sandalwood and birch tar. Overall, this creates a very gourmand and powdery base with a vanilla hint.
