About this deal

Better yet, the Pathfinder 10 is capable of managing your effect pedals easily. You can plug distortion, overdrive, fuzz, delay, chorus, reverb, or anything you want, and it will use those effects with consistency, clarity, and plenty of personalities. Channels and layout A guitar amplifier this small and light can sit at the top of your desk easily. That’s an important factor. I/O section

Firstly, this amp isn’t made for live performances. To be honest, it’s pretty useless for playing in front of an audience. The reason is very simple – there is no footswitch included. You’ll have to manually press the button to switch between clean and overdrive channels, so it’s not useful during gigs. What’s important, VOX decided to equip this guitar amplifier with two separate channels – clean and overdrive. You can easily switch between them by pressing one button placed at the top of the amp.I just love the small pathfinder. With a few mods and a cab it sounds very nice. Plus it's a DIYer's dream, being a full old-school circuit with a transformer PSU and all through-hole parts. Then, the layout is fairly simple. It has a Gain knob, a Volume Knob, and a 2-band EQ (Trebble and Bass). There’s nothing else to it. Treble and Bass Controls - We then have the usual treble and bass controls (one knob for each) which adjust the high frequencies (tinny sharp sounds) and low frequencies (booming deep sounds ) respectively. The overdrive channel had a mixed response. Some people found it perfectly usable while others clearly warned us to abstain from using it. You can also use the output as a direct recording option. That means you can plug an XLR-to-XLR cable into your audio interface or console and record with your computer.

The Pathfinder 10 is a straightforward option. It offers the best price possible for the price point while skipping key features other practice amps deliver. There’s also a line out on this model that you can use with headphones or for recording purposes. Outputs like this one aren’t commonplace for amplifiers in this class, which makes this model even more appealing. TODO: 100nF ceramic bypass capacitors between the power rails on all opamps. This might not be critical, but I have seen a big difference in other applications, so I plan to try it. It's cheap and very easy to do on the underside of the pcb. It could make a bigger difference if you plan on using the amp on higher gains, especially on the first stages. So here is the list of my TODO stuff, gathering info from around the internet, plus results so far. Ssguitar and tdpri forums have much useful info. When nothing is plugged in, its switch is closed, and it gets the signal directly to the amplifier. When you plug a cable, the switch opens, and the signal goes to the cable. The demo below showcases a musician playing the Vox Pathfinder through a PA system. With the right condenser mic, it can handle its own. I would say is enough for light gigging and garage rehearsals.
