Tanzanite is a true natural phenomenon, and the privilege that comes with owning such a stone is completely unmatched. One day, while playing indoors, the children find an attic and Barney discovers a map and manuscript hidden under a floorboard. The children examine it, and Barney realises that the map refers to King Arthur and his knights. The children decide to keep the discovery to themselves.

Over Sea, Under Stone features the Drew children, Simon, Jane and Barney, on holiday with their parents and Merriman Lyon, an old family friend, usually referred to by the children as their great-uncle. The ocean is a magical place, and we believe that some of the world’s most magnificent gemstones are found under the waves. When I first read and raved about this series (or as much of it as I could find when I was in middle school--I think I never got hold of Vol 5), it would have been a solid five--or perhaps 7! I was King Arthur-mad in those days, and "fantasy fiction" was a relatively new phenomenon in my environment. The story of three siblings (and a dog) who search for the Holy Grail in Cornwall, dodging bad guys as they go, was just my drop in those days. I didn't remember anything at all about it when I came across it again, so it was like an unknown book, except I remembered loving it. As the birthstone for August, Peridot has a special place in many gemstone collections. However, with its gorgeous green hue, Peridot doesn’t need to be a birthstone to be favoured by the masses.i had never read this series, but had always wanted to. so ariel straight up mailed it to me! like santa! in june!

Over 90% of Diamonds found in the ocean are of gem quality, whereas less than 60% of Diamonds sourced on land are good enough to become gems. This book was bad... Really bad. I think maybe if I had read this as a young child it wouldn't have bothered me, but reading this as an adult it wasn't a good read.... Peridot is formed from a green-ish mineral called olivine – one of the primary components of the Earth’s upper mantle. So, how does Peridot end up in the sea? The writing itself is lovely. Not too fancy, and yet still describing things well. There's a real sense of ominous danger in parts of it, and yet the writing also brings across a feeling of childhood, summer vacations and sunburns and going to see the sea. This opaque, blue-green mineral is the pinnacle of beauty, and can be rare and valuable depending on the gemstone’s grading.

Although sometimes mistaken for Emeralds or Green Topaz, Peridot is a spectacular gemstone in its own right. Amethysts can be obtained from all over the coast. Finding precious and semi-precious gemstones on beaches is more common than you may think; they can appear naturally in the area, or be carried ashore with the help of the tide – and Amethysts are no exception. One day not long after that, a burglar breaks into Grey House. Curiously, the burglar ignored traditional valuables like jewelry or cash and instead went straight for the bookshelves. The parents are mystified by this, but Simon, Jane, and Barney believe they know the truth: The burglar was looking for the old map manuscript. Now that they realize the value of the manuscript in their possession, the siblings decide it's time to come clean to Merriman about everything. After hearing their story, Merriman confirms what they were all thinking: The manuscript is a treasure map. Moreover, the treasure in question is none other than the Holy Grail for which Arthur's knights famously quested. And finally, Merriman admits that the children are in great danger, for there are forces of darkness--"The Dark," as he terms it--after the Grail who will stop at nothing to retrieve it.
