About this deal

In 2013, Sting released the album The Last Ship, which drew inspiration from his childhood. He spent his early years not far from the shipyards of Wallsend, a Newcastle neighborhood. Singer and actor Jimmy Nail contributed vocals to the album and he also helped Sting develop a musical based on the album.

The lyrics of "Lemon Tree" by Sting are a reflection of a sense of boredom, loneliness, and a longing for something new and exciting. The song's protagonist finds himself in a tedious and repetitive routine and is waiting for someone to save him from the monotony of his life. He looks to the outside world for inspiration and turns to his lover, hoping they will bring him some joy.Classifiche". Musica e dischi (in Italian) . Retrieved 4 June 2022. Sting: I think the ambiguity is intrinsic in the song however you treat it because the words are so sadistic. On one level, it’s a nice long song with the classic relative minor chords, and underneath there’s this distasteful character talking about watching every move. I enjoy that ambiguity. I watched Andy Gibb singing it with some girl on TV a couple of weeks ago, very loving, and totally misinterpreting it. (Laughter) I could still hear the words, which aren’t about love at all.
