Despite this, you can choose a slow-feed bowl that’s more resistant to chewing. DIET DIVERSITY: Fun Feeders are available in multiple sizes and ridge patterns. These bowls are great for dry, wet, or raw food diets. The Large/Regular holds up to 4 cups of dry kibble, the Medium/Mini holds 2 cups, and the Small/Tiny holds 3/4 cup.

Does your dog devour every meal like it’s the last food on Earth? You’re not alone. Many dogs gorge their meal as soon as you put their bowls down. We might not know the reasons for this behaviour, but we do know it’s unhealthy. A stainless-steel bowl, for example, is likely to be more resistant to chewing compared to a plastic slow-feed dog bowl. How do I clean my slow-feeder dog bowl? The Neater Slow Feeder comes in a kit allowing you to choose between 5 and 7.5 inches (13 and 19 cm) for your feeding height. You can even remove the legs completely allowing you to use this as a regular slow-feed bowl. The pattern on the purple bowl featured lower ridges and shallow valleys and was the only style that every dog we tested with could comfortably and confidently eat from. If your furry friend is better described as a beast than a dog, then this is the slow-feed bowl for you.

Slow feeders help with weight loss for dogs. Dogs have to chase their food around the dish to eat it, which means that they eat at a much slower pace. How do the slow-feed dog bowls achieve that? Well, it’s actually quite clever – the bowl features raised sections that prevent your dog from eating his food all at once. The time started with the dog’s first bite and stopped once the last piece of kibble entered the dog’s mouth.

This was the most common advice I came across when researching how to get a dog to eat slower without buying a slow-feed bowl. Once our mountain of slow-feed dog bowls arrived, it was time to test them! How did we test the slow-feeder dog bowls? I must stress that these experiences were uncommon. Almost everyone we spoke to had universal praise for slow-feed bowls. First, ceramic slow feeders are much more expensive than their plastic or metal counterparts. Now, don’t get me wrong. I am happy to pay more for a product that performs. But the ceramic slow-feed dog bowls I tested did anything but. Every ceramic bowl was flawed. I’m going to be straight up with you. At the time of writing this, ceramic slow feeders aren’t great. Here at DogLab, we do not recommend products that we wouldn’t use ourselves. Because of this, I find myself unable to declare any ceramic slow feeder an outright winner.

But keep in mind that some designs might work better with dry food than with wet food. Alternatively, a slow feeder can provide your dog with some added mental stimulation when it comes to eating their food as they move around the maze or ridges to ensure they don’t miss a scrap. A slow-feed bowl is much cheaper than a vet bill for bloat surgery. Does your dog eat so fast that he throws up?This slow-feed dog bowl has towers and elongated ridges that help to reduce the speed at which your pet eats as he needs to figure out how to navigate his mouth around the maze-like structure. The bowl is made from eco-friendly ABS material. The only issue we see are chipped teeth. Like with any product you give your dog, you should monitor how he interacts. If he doesn’t use it properly, then you should remove it.
