Some really hard story lines were tackled in this book and done in the most amazing way Shain Rose really took her time to make sure these themes were handled properly especially the abuse and trauma which in my experience are easily mishandled. With Jax and Aubrey's story takes us on a journey that starts when they a younger and continues on until their present day. The FMC doesn’t visit her father but the MMC does and the father I think threatens him with something so he leaves the FMC while she is sleeping to go live somewhere else (can’t remember where).Remember how I mentioned Aubrey’s mom is Native American and never used that piece of information again?

Overall, this book definitely had a more immature feel than Rose’s Tarnished Empire or Hardy Billionaire Brothers series - which makes sense as this occurs in the high school through young adult years. Jax ran into that burning house without a second thought and saved that young woman life, little did he know the affect it would have on both of them. He claimed he loved her his whole life but he truly didn't know how to treat her and he never really shared his love with Audrey until he was in the mood and was good and ready.
